Girly, opulent packaging is what I love and in regards to the esthetic of the Too Faced Pretty Rich Makeup Collection I’m definitely not disappointed.

what is it

The Too Faced Pretty Rich Collection is well-comprised of what you need to set off almost an entire face of makeup. You have a beautifully laid out eyeshadow palette, three highlighters, six glosses, a luxe edition mascara and even one of the most beautiful makeup brushes that I’ve ever seen. There is even a glitzy skincare item thrown in for good measure.

I don’t recommend all of it, and I explain more on that below… but you definitely NEED to pick up some of it.

Rather than put the swatches at the bottom in their own category I kept them in with the specific product they’re representing. All swatches are (as usual) done dry and on bare skin (no primers). The eye look is at the bottom of the post right above the availability info.

Pretty Rich Diamond Light Eyeshadow Palette ($49.00). This palette is “inspired by the multi-faceted beauty of real diamonds”.  The shades are meant to be layered for a multi-faceted effect.

16 eye shadow shades of mattes, glitters and shimmers are included in Diamonds 4 Breakfast (silver champagne glitter), It’s Designer! (matte cream), Fancy That (matte taupe), Filthy Rich (silvered espresso), Clutch Your Pearls (pink pearl shift), Princess Cut (gilded pink w/ silver sparkle), Diamond Glitterati (rose glitter), Highly Selective (metallic dusty rose), Fluent in Diamonds (gold glitter), It’s Cashmere (matte warm soft brown), Don’t Carat All (metallic warm gold), Oh, That’s Rich! (matte warm deep brown), Coal Under Pressure (black w/ silver sparkle), Silver Spoon (metallic charcoal), Set the Jewel Tone (royal blue to purple shift) and Diamond Life (holographic multi-sparkle glitter).

I love how the packaging is girly and is presented like a luxury diamond necklace box. Upon opening you have a small mirror on the inside of the lid opposite the 16 eye shadows. There is a lot of different texture going on but I like that it’s evenly distributed enough amongst the different formulas and the amount of glitter shades isn’t overkill.

The matte shades are nicely pigmented and for the most part are easy to work with.

Oh, That’s Rich swatched dry and at first was sheer to apply. In fact, it took quite a bit of effort to even build up. But then as I was working and work it suddenly was intensely pigmented and INSANELY beautiful. I think I just needed to get through that top layer then the gem of color was underneath. Don’t give up, it’s totally worth it (use a firm brush like the MAC 239 and press the product into the area that you want it… if you need to blend it use a super soft, totally clean blending brush such as the Wayne Goss 06 or blend a shade that is easier to work with into it – like I did in the eye look below).

The shimmers are beautiful to use on their own and fine, but are stunning when you use them wet to amp them up.

The glitters appear to be more temperamental than they are. I was actually quite surprised how much I liked using them dry. They were easy to use by just lightly tapping over any area you desire just by using your finger – I didn’t even need to use a glitter glue or sticky base for this.

While this palette looks a little daunting it’s recommended that you look at it as “quads” either by corners or rows. For me, that helps A LOT when I’m trying to plan what look I want.

Overall, I do wish the “glitter” finishes were a little smoother. I’m completely obsessed with the way that Diamond Life looks in the pan… could you even IMAGINE that used wet as a well-made metallic or even a pressed shimmer?! Dying.

Diamond Light Multi-Use Diamond Fire Highlighter ($34.00). This is said to be a “prismatic highlighter infused with real crushed diamond powder and light-reflecting pearls for an extra luxe, blinding shimmer”.

Three shades are available in Canary Diamond (sparkling gilded rose), Diamond Fire (vivid cool opal) and Fancy Pink Diamond (vivid warm pink).

I’m so in love with the packaging of these highlighters all the way to the outer cartons. It’s truly similar to getting a diamond ring in the way that it’s all presented. Too Faced has made it an actual experience opening a HIGHLIGHTER! What?!

Diamond Fire is a light rainbow with a bluish tint… crazy beautiful to look at and I think perfect for anyone in the fair-to-light skin tone range. On me it was a little much but damned if I’m not the person that would buy this just to look at.

Pink Diamond is my favorite because of it’s champagne tone (which just works best for me personally).

Canary Diamond is a stunning, rose gold that reminds me of an understated, more wearable version of Smashbox x Vlada MUA Prismatic Pearl Petal Metal Highlighter.

All formulas felt smooth and applied beautifully.

Diamond Light Highlighting Brush ($30.00). This brush was created to pair up with the Diamond Light Multi-Use Diamond Fire Highlighter but can be used with any other cream, powder or liquid highlighting formulas. The brushes are synthetic and cruelty-free.

I was a little intimidated at first that this brush would be a little too dense and targeted to apply highlighter with. My personal preference for highlight, if I wear it, is understated. I’m oily and get enough shine on my own, so I don’t want to over-do things.

I was really impressed with how evenly this brush applied the highlight and how smoothly I was able to blend it in with my other cheek products. The formula melded in like butter while applying, and with very little effort on my part.

I kind of want all of my makeup brushes to look like this. Can I has some eyeshadow brushes that look like this, Too Faced? 2019? Please?

Rich & Dazzling High-Shine Sparkling Lip Gloss ($21.00). These glosses are said to be “enriched with natural oils” have an “ultra-glossy color, mirror-like shine” with “high-impact shimmer and glitter effects”. The formula is stated as being “lightweight and comfortable”.

Six shades are available in All The Stars (sparkling clear w/ pink, blue, violet reflux glitter), Sunset Crush (sparkling peach pink w/ pink glitter), Raisin the Roof (sparkling raspberry blush w/ silver glitter), Social Butterfly (sparkling apricot nude w/ pink & gold glitter), Pretty Penny (sparkling chai w/ gold & silver glitter) and 401k (sparkling electric violet w/ pink, purple & silver glitter).

Right off I am OBSESSED with the packaging. I think it’s girly and beautiful without looking garish.

The formula isn’t sticky (I’d say it’s a 2 out of 10 for that) and while they’re not fully-opaque on the lips they give the appearance of being so because of the ultra-shine and glossiness. They are all stunning on the lips.

I’d have loved to have seen maybe three lipsticks to use these as toppers on, especially a pinky beige or a mauve… cause you know me…. can’t get enough.

Wear-time is like that of a regular gloss where it’s a few hours unless you eat or drink anything and then all bets are off. Super easy to reapply, though and the applicator is wonderful (flat on both sides, rounded and sponge-tipped).

Better Than Sex and Diamonds Mascara ($24.00). This mascara is said to be a “dressed-up” version of their iconic Better Than Sex Mascara, which is a heavy favorite throughout the world. This packaging is limited edition and beyond beautiful.

Better Than Sex, for me, is a good mascara. It doesn’t do everything I need it to for my lashes, but keep in mine that mascara is subjective and for A LOT of people this is the end-all be-all.

If you love the OG BTS then you absolutely NEED to get the diamond version. Just freaking look at it!

Glow Job Radiance-Boosting Glitter Face Mask ($42.00). This product is said to be a “radiance-boosting peel-off glitter mask infused with real crushed diamond powder”. The key benefits are that it is “exfoliating to lift away dull, tired skin” leaving it looking “smooth”, “radiant” and “makeup ready”.

I think this mask is beautiful to look at and maybe a fun treat every once in awhile, but in terms of REAL skincare I wouldn’t recommend it. The glitter particles can be abrasive, particularly for those with sensitive skin. Because of the peel-off nature it absolutely removes dead skin and makes your skin feel smooth.

If you have sensitive skin in any way whether it be from a condition such as eczema, rosacea or even just any overall sensitivity I wouldn’t use ANY glitter mask. Also, keep in mind if you’re younger, that consistently using a product like this might not bother your skin now, but it is likely to cause minor damage to your skin in ways that you might not notice right away but that will get worse over time.

Otherwise, use it for fun or to pretty up an Instagram pic, but I personally don’t think it should be factored in to an actual “skincare routine”.  For $42 you can find something that has necessary key benefits to your overall skin health.
