“This post is sponsored by Heritage Store but all opinions are entirely my own.”
My skincare journey is permanently endless. It’s taken me awhile to realize this, but at a certain age it just is what it is. Now that I’m 40, I can truly say that I’m at peace trying out new things. That peace turns into true bliss when I happen upon something that works and that I can also incorporate into my daily routines easily.
*For reference, my age is 40 and my skin type has turned into combo (dry areas at the tops of my cheeks and my nose, sometimes my forehead). I’m sensitive to many common skincare ingredients such as coconut and alcohol. Both of those ingredients make me break out almost immediately.
Heritage Store isn’t a new brand to me, but it’s taken me far too long to realize what a daily staple it should’ve been throughout the years that I’ve used the products. The Rosewater Refreshing Facial Mist and the Rosewater & Glycerin Hydrating Facial Mist are my latest obsessions, and I’ve been using them interchangeably throughout my day.
Both types of the facial mist are Vegan and Cruelty Free as well as free of dyes and alcohol. Being free of alcohol is HUGE for me. My skin is so acne-prone and alcohol is a major trigger. If it’s too high up on the list of ingredients I can’t even have it in my makeup products. So, for skincare, alcohol-free is the very FIRST thing I look for. You’d be shocked at how many highly recommended makeup and skincare items contain alcohol or alcohol denat. (aka denatured). The ingredients list is nature-inspired and minimal, making it a love for everyone – even celebrities and makeup artists!

The Routine:
For the daytime, I stick with the cult-fave, OG Heritage Store Rosewater Refreshing Facial Mist, which is great for all skin types. Your makeup wears best when you prep correctly. I’m not embarrassed to admit that lately my prep is taking just as long as my makeup application. After washing my face I apply my SPF and let that sink in for about 15 minutes (take that time to check email, eat breakfast, etc). Then I pop on my daily moisturizer and eye cream and let that sit for another 15 (usually I’m packing the kids lunches as well as my own).
My third morning skincare step is now the Heritage Store Rosewater Refreshing Facial Mist. I spritz some of that on and I swear to you it’s helping my dry patches while not making me too dewy looking in other, more oily areas. I let that set for a few minutes then follow up with my makeup primer (which I usually let sit on my face for another 5-10 minutes before going in with foundation).
At night I grab the Heritage Store Rosewater & Glycerin Hydrating Facial Mist. I use this in the evening as the first step after I wash my face but before I apply any serums or moisturizers. This is best suited for dry to combination skin, but since I do tend to get very oily in some areas I stick to working with this one before bed.
In the winter I will maybe have to alternate the two mists, depending on how dry my skin wants to be this year. At this point it’s anyone’s best guess what my skin will decide it wants to do. It basically behaves worse than a toddler if I’m not careful. LOL!
These days I’m looking for all the positivity and good vibes I can find. These products aren’t just effective skincare, they also make me feel good and look good! Heritage Store has been the leader of skin-to-soul beauty since 1969. The facial mists feature a slight scent of damask roses which I find isn’t overpowering to me. When I spritz them on it is an immediate mood booster. Game, set, match.
Make sure you head to Walmart to check them out and don’t forget to download the coupon first!
