On January 26, 2021 AURIC Cosmetics, brought to us from the beautiful mind of OG Influencer Samantha Ravndahl, was born. AURIC by actual definition means “derived from gold.” Based on the brand’s beliefs (described on their about page) AURIC officially means “Golden Together.”
Whether you started following Sam back when I did, during the Batalash Beauty days, or you’re a new fan, this is the low-key, glowy, wearable beauty brand we’ve all been waiting for.
To me, Sam has always been magnetic in terms of her beauty, but even more-so in her personality. She has strong beliefs of which she is passionate about. It’s obvious she’s intelligent, does her research, and truly cares to understand others and be a good human. She’s like the long-time friend you can have an honest, heated debate with and then still be close with after.
When I learned that Sam would finally be launching her own beauty brand, I rejoiced. I knew that these products would be understated, but deliver impact. As a 40 year-old makeup lover that still loves to play around with cosmetics but end up with a wearable day look, I knew this brand would be exactly what I needed.
On launch day, AURIC launched a small, curated makeup collection of only two products, Glow Lust and Smoke Reflects, in varying shades. Based off of videos from Sam, I was beyond impressed even before I hit the purchase button. Now that I’ve used one of the products, I feel justified in those feelings.
The AURIC Cosmetics Glow Lust is a radiant luminizer and is available in 7 shades. Initially I had this in my cart. Let’s be honest, I had the entire collection in my cart. Afterpay wasn’t an option so I had to pare down. Spoiler alert, I now regret that decision. ANYWAY, in terms of the Glow Lust, I figured this wasn’t a product I’d use. I’m not big on highlighter so I wouldn’t use it alone and mixing a lightly tinted luminizer in with my foundations definitely wasn’t happening. Now, as I look at more reviews and photos, my finger is definitely hovering over the purchase button.
This post is about the one product I allowed myself to buy. This post also officially begins my newest and likely longterm obsession of the AURIC Cosmetics Smoke Reflect™ Cream + Powder Eye Shadow Duos.
AURIC Smoke Reflect launched with three shades – Temper (rose gold), Defiance (bronze/gold), and Ego (silver). Initially I wanted all three. I pared down to Temper and Defiance. At the end of it all I only picked up Temper, since I wanted to make sure the formula would play well on my oily lids… and I regret that so much.
To keep it mostly short – AURIC Temper Smoke Reflect is stunning. I have no other adjectives, because stunning is all that comes to mind before I get tongue-tied. From the outer packaging (pictured above) to the quality of the products it houses… stunning. Wait, heres another one for you… perfection. If I wasn’t a fan of Sam I would still be shouting these same words.
The top part (lid) of the jar flips open to reveal a mirror on one side (of which there is a removable film to cover it) and a sparkly powder on the other. This powder has a semi-sheer base and when you swatch it looks like it would be super glittery on the lid, but in fact it’s not. It’s just exactly what you hope it will be for an every day sort of glimmer.
The bottom jar half is where the cream lies and this is my most favorite part. This cream is pigmented, bouncy, and overall just lovely to wear. One layer is completely pigmented, speeds evenly, and is easily wearable. On layer two you really start to see the metallic, but it’s not so overdone that you can’t wear it if you’re older.
AURIC Temper Smoke Reflect is truly a luxe makeup product, worthy of the price point. I see myself reaching for this daily and getting my use of it. I cannot wait to purchase the other two!
review
While this launch is considered to be small, I think it was a smart idea on the part of Sam to produce high-quality, thoughtful products. These products reach a wide group of makeup lovers in general, but more-so target her own fans. If you watch Sam because you share a love of the same products, you’re sure to love what she’s giving us.
It probably seems a little too early for me to be singing praises on the entire brand. But based off of what I’ve seen so far, I think we can safely say that the future of AURIC Cosmetics is bright…. golden, even. 😉 I bet in the near future we can expect some cream blushes, bronzers, highlights… some nude balms and lippies and glosses…. I truly can’t wait for the expansion of this brand.
Pricing is definitely luxury, but that wasn’t something I was surprised about. Sam loves her luxe beauty and she’s taken favorite products from brands such as Tom Ford, Charlotte Tilbury, and Hourglass and made them better, cruelty free, and (even more importantly, IMO) kept differing skin-tones in mind… which could not have been cheap to do. It really makes you think that if a brand new, small, indie brand like AURIC can do it, why aren’t these huge brands able to? Food for thought.

Below I swatched AURIC Cosmetics Temper Smoke Reflect dry and on bare skin (no primers). The first pic was taken outside in direct sunlight. The second pic was taken outside while it was overcast.

Ohhhhh! You’ll have to let me know if you like it! I got so many compliments when I wore it, which shocked me because the eye look was so basic. Absolutely adore the formula!
