Ever on the hunt for the newest in holy grail eyebrow products I’m always game to play around with the newest releases in brows, especially when they’re from the drugstore. Currently that product is the Maybelline TattooStudio Waterproof Eyebrow Gel ($12.99).
what is it
The Maybelline TattooStudio Waterproof Eyebrow Gel is a brow product with a gel formula that is said to instantly color, define and last up to 2 days. The eyebrow defining tip fills and grooms while the spoolie blends for fuller looking brows. Four shades are currently available.
Right off I’ll tell you the product itself is fabulous, but that applicator is just not working for me. I’m a child of the 90’s and while every other thing about the 90’s seems to be back in style the eyebrows of that time are not. Back then it was all about getting things as pencil thin as possible. Shape meant nothing. So, for me, when it comes to brows, I have to draw half of mine in. Some brow gels house enough pigment to push and place color in the bald areas however this is not that formula.
What I do love about the Maybelline TattooStudio Waterproof Eyebrow Gel is that after you pencil in the general shape of the brow you want and fill in the sparse spots this gel is perfection for coating the areas with the hairs and applying overtop of the pencil to seal everything in for an eyebrow color that will.not.budge.
The applicator is likely only going to be fantastic for someone will already full brows who needs just a bit of color to make them look more uniform. What I like to do is get a slanted brow/liner brush and push the product in that way. It allows for more precision and the included spoolie is perfect for making it all look even.
It sounds like a lot of work but it doesn’t take me any longer than normal to do my brows and with this method I don’t have to worry about anything smudging or fading. The Medium Brown shade is the best match for me and I do plan on using this in my regular routine from here on out!
All 4 shades of the Maybelline TattooStudio Waterproof Eyebrow Gel are swatched below dry and on bare skin (no primers). Yes, Soft Brown and Blonde are very similar. There is maybe every so slim of a shade difference, but you can hardly notice it even in person.
