Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation Swatches + Review

August 10, 2015

4K technology is upon us. To those of us non-techies (me) that means that the next gen of digital devices will display images with more detail, clarity and color than ever before.  All the things… magnified. I’m terrified, you guys. No one needs to see me au natural and if I’m going to be applying makeup anyway I want it to make me up as flawless as I wanna be.

MUFE Ultra HD Foundation review

To keep up with technology Make Up For Ever has developed Ultra HD Foundation with 4K Complex – enhanced with amino acid coated pigments ( reflective particles to blur flaws and provide translucent, invisible coverage), hyaluronic spheres (to hydrate and plump the skin for a longer and more comfortable wear) and sericite (fine grained mica that adds light reflecting properties to create a radiant and luminous effect, mimicking the vibrancy of naturally beautiful skin).

Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation review

Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation ($43.00 // Sephora). The shade I chose is in Y245 (this color in HD was known as 120). Light, silky coverage that is buildable. The staying power, for the most part, is all day long on me. I am extremely oily in my t-zone area, so that always needs a bit of blotting, but what impressed me is that with this foundation I could blot and not feel like I needed to reapply a dusting of powder. Available in 40 shades!

Ultra HD Invisible Cover Stick Foundation ($43.00 // Sephora). The shade I chose is in Y245 (this color in HD was known as 120). You guys know how much I love IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye? This is the same coverage but without the thick formula type. It covers so well without any caking and stays all day after you set it with a powder. I love this for providing extra coverage to any problem areas, such as breakouts or discolorations. Available in 15 shades.

I’ve applied these products with brushes, fingers and a beautyblender. It applies well with any medium you choose to use. Obviously the beautyblender would be my tool of choice, especially if you really want to look flawless, but in a pinch you can dab on with fingers and blend easily with a brush.

Below these items are swatched without any primers, obviously not blended out. My arm is much darker than my face (hello, all-star baseball season when gobs of SPF isn’t enough) so when worn on my face it blends out nicely. I actually thought it would still be too light but I looked in multiple lightings, in multiple mirrors (to the confusion of anyone who saw me running around town) and it matched up perfectly.

Bottom line. If you love the original, the Ultra HD is a must have!

Make Up For Ever products are available at Sephora and makeupforever.com.

Whoa no blotting necessary? I have such an issue with foundation lasting on my forehead so I think I’ll give this a try!

I am a fan. And although I loved the original for dry skin types (it didnt work so well on oily people), this formula is the bomb. If you ever try Face Atelier Ultra Pro or Ultra Skin, the texture is crazy similar to this one.

My skin has a super oily t-zone and I was a fan of the original, but this one definitely lasts longer for me. I haven’t tried the others but I’m writing them down so I can!

I want to see these in person to try out the colors. I don’t normally wear a stick foundation but it might be a nice change for fall.

I need to check out these. I’ve heard so many rave reviews. Admittedly, I didn’t like the original HD foundation. No matter what, finding my match was hard without having to purchase multiple shades. Hopefully with 40 shades I can find something with these.

Yup, for extra coverage where needed. Stick foundation to me = concealer lol I can’t see myself using this on my whole face unless I’m on the run and straight up forgot the other stuff.

Definitely going to consider trying the stick formula, I still have quite a lot of my bottle of the original liquid formula left so will hold off trying that!
