Tara Smith Haircare Review, Photos + Giveaway

August 9, 2015

*Sponsored by Coyne PR. I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my viewers. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission guidelines concerning the use of endorsements and testimonials in advertising.

Who doesn’t look at Demi Moore and think “I want my hair to be that shiny.”? Who doesn’t look at Rosario Dawson and think “I want my hair to look that soft and controlled.”? The woman behind those famous manes and many more is Tara Smith – celebrity hairstylist. This summer she has launched a 12-product haircare line with Performance Botanical Technology with each product giving you brilliant hair that looks, feels and acts amazing… like a celeb! The entire line is toxin-free, gluten-free, cruelty-free AND completely vegan – the range is tested on film stars, not on animals – with lab tested and proven results!

Note: Wanna know about the birds? I did! Check out my overview of each set for a quote from Tara Smith as to why each bird was chosen to represent that line (which I had to share because I think it’s really cool)!

Tara Smith hair care review

Shine On Shampoo & Conditioner ($16.00 each // Tara Smith). Of the four sets I got to try out Shine On is my favorite. This set is for my heat-styling, color loving peoples. The formula strengthens and restores shine to damaged hair. After I tried this duo my hair was incredibly soft and shiny. On the Palm Cockatoo: “The Palm Cockatoo is a rock star. His mohawk is wicked, sleek, and strong. His black feathers cascade and shine — that’s how he became the ‘face’ of my Shine On set.”

Tara Smith Shine On Hair Care

Feed the Root Shampoo & Conditioner ($16.00 each // Tara Smith). This duo cleanses the hair without stripping it down. It’s wonderful for volume and shine. This set worked best on my daughter (oh, you didn’t know she tested products too?!). Her hair is the polar opposite of mine and we always have issues with it looking straggly. This set was perfect for her because it gave her hair life even on day 2! On the Red-Fronted Macaw: “Macaws love to chat, and their feathers look so thick, healthy, and lush. Of course he’s the bird-ification of Feed the Root!”

Tara Smith Fee the Root Hair Care

Gorgeously Gentle Shampoo & Conditioner ($16.00 each // Tara Smith). Gorgeously gentle helps to repair strength and luster. This one also worked out well on my daughters hair (she’s feeling all the fancy with these birds). Special ingredients lock in moisture for healthy, shiny hair. On the Grey Crowned Crane: “Beautiful colors, long neck, and so delicate – this crane really represents the Gorgeously Gentle products best, because they’re meant for hair that needs a pick-me-up.”

Tara Smith Gorgeously Gentle Hair Care

Working Curls Shampoo & Conditioner ($16.00 each // Tara Smith). While this set is ideal for those with natural curls I liked it because it beat the frizz on my wavy hair. It’s great for manageability! On the Southern Crowned Pigeon: “I had such a laugh choosing this bird. I thought of all the people like me with this wild curly hair and what it looks like sometimes (especially when we wake up in the morning). This very special pigeon would look outstanding after a Working Curls treatment!”

Tara Smith Working Curls Hair Care

With every good shampoo and conditioner you must have styling products! Here are four from Tara Smith!

Base Coat Serum ($26.00 // Tara Smith). Another of my must-have faves! It’s a “foundation primer” to battle frizz, which I need in spades. It added a lot of shine to my hair and didn’t make it oily or weighed down. On the Galah Bird: “The cheekiest of all the birds – this very special chick brings beautiful texture and a feminine, bold pink to the Base Coat Serum. She’s the very picture of bubbly, good, and gorgeous!”

Brilliant Thickening Cream ($24.00 // Tara Smith). Hydrates and detangles creating definition and shine. This is wonderfully lightweight and I love to use it when I’m curling my hair. On the Indian Peafowl: “Brilliantly bright colors and sky high volume worn with pride – the Indian peafowl exemplifies bold, outgoing, and attention-grabbing.”

Rock On Hard Gel ($18.00 // Tara Smith). Control without the stiffness and flakes! On the Crested Wood Partridge: “Fantastic colors, striking feathers, and major height with that ‘do. This guy is a badass – and undeniably looks like he’s been using my Rock On Hard Gel.”

Shining Moment Glosser ($18.00 // Tara Smith). The top-coat finisher to add shine and protect! On the Cockatoo: “This cockatoo knows how good she looks. There’s nothing left to say!”

I’m using Tara Smith now too and I’m loving the brand. My hair looks shiny and is staying straight in spite of the rain. I need root coverage but the rest of my hair doesn’t need anything so I’m putting off color for another week and just touching up my roots.
