Amongst a sea of Nakeds we finally have the Urban Decay Electric Pressed Pigment Palette. Electric is really putting it very mildly. These shades are seriously so vivid and beautiful I want to smash my face into the palette and just take it all in. But, I wouldn’t do that, because legally I’m not insane. ALL THE COLORS *twitch swoon*.
…..and yes, this is also DAY 4 of FIVE DAYS OF GIVEAWAYS! At the bottom of the page enter to win the Urban Decay Electric Pressed Pigment Palette & the Urban Decay Electric Nail Color Trio ($12.00)!
What Sephora says about the Urban Decay Electric Pressed Pigment Palette:
What it is:
A bright collection of 10 velvety, pressed-pigment shadows that deliver an insane color payout. What it does:
The ultimate fix for color addicts, this palette features smooth mattes and highly-dimensional shimmery shades. Each soft, creamy, long-wearing powder is electrically colorful, and carefully crafted with a smooth formula that applies vibrantly. Pressed pigments create heavily saturated bright shades that make eyelids pop. The oversize palette features an extra-large mirror and double-sided precision brush for easy application on the go.This set contains:
– 10 pressed pigments in Revolt (bright metallic silver shimmer with silver glitter), Gonzo (bright turquoise matte with floating tonal pearl), Slowburn (bright red-orange matte with floating pearl), Savage (bright hot pink matte), Fringe (bright metallic teal), Chaos (bright blue matte with floating tonal pearl), Jilted (bright metallic fuchsia with blue shift), Urban (bright metallic purple), Freak (bright green with gold shift), and Thrash (bright lime green matte with floating gold pearl)
– Double Ended Electric Eyeshadow BrushWhat it is formulated WITHOUT:
– Parabens
– Sulfates
– PhthalatesWhat else you need to know:
Every shade in the Electric Pressed Pigment Palette features Urban Decay’s Pigment Infusion System™, the proprietary blend of ingredients that gives each shade its velvety texture, rich color, serious staying power, and blendability.
Electric contains a dual-ended eye shadow brush and ten vibrant eye shadow shades in:
- Revolt is a silvery foil metallic that applies on the sheer side. I had the best luck with this one by just patting it on, rather than brushing.
- Gonzo is a muted blue with a bit of shimmer. The swatch makes it look more sheer than it actually is.
- Slowburn is a reddened orange satin. Can we just pause for a minute to stare at this fantastic shade? It’s not matte, and a very slight amount of shimmer keeps it from looking too flat. Totally opaque, smooth… I can’t even say enough good things about this one.
- Savage is a cool pink matte. Similar in formula to Slowburn it was opaque, smooth and just fab.
- Fringe is a blue-green metallic – super saturated and smooth.
- Chaos is an electric blue with a bit of shimmer. The swatch has it looking a little chalky but it’s not the case with this shade when you actually wear it.
- Jilted is a dark metallic magenta. Beautifully rich!
- Urban is a deep purple metallic with a formula just like Fringe – saturated & smooth.
- Freak is a metallic kelly green that is bright and spring-like… it almost looks like it’s silvery.
- Thrash is a yellow-green matte with that slight shimmer that is in Slowburn.
The formula was really fantastic and I wouldn’t call any of the shades under-performers. My least favorite is Revolt but I wouldn’t kick it out of bed. My favorite is Slowburn because… that color… just can’t deny it. I found the shadows to be long-wearing and they remained vibrant through the day.
Heed the warning. On the back of the packaging and also on the insert (in multiple languages) Urban Decay states that the shades Slowburn, Savage, Jilted and Urban are not safe for use on the eye (clearly I don’t care much about warnings, because I went right off and used said shades).
I had way too much fun with this eye look. At first I was a little overwhelmed with all of the color. After all, I’m used to neutrals with maybe a pop of something bright. I didn’t want simple but I didn’t want it to look mud. I went with a kind of rainbow look because I’ve always wanted to try it and if it looked bad I could always wipe it off.
To begin I primed with Urban Decay Primer Potion and also added a layer of MAC Utterly Becoming Pro Longwear Paint Pot. The shades I used on the lid are Thrash, Freak, Chaos and Slowburn is at the crease blended up. Revolt is at the inner corners and I just blended up from there above Slow Burn. Urban is under the lower lash line. The liners are the Urban Decay Perversion Super-Saturated Ultra Intense Waterproof Cream Eyeliner on top and the Urban Decay Perversion 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil on the bottom. The mascara was Lash Sleeve Mascara (to be reviewed).
The photos below were taken via my iPhone and posted to my Instagram. The lighting was fantastic! I was outside and it was a little overcast. The only editing done with the photos was me adding in a watermark. Even though I’m still in love with the look when I did the photos above with the flash, I love how saturated the colors look in the natural lighting. The breakdown is the same as above except I added lashes (Style No. 2 from Winks by Georgie Beauty) and put on a coat of Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. 😉
The Urban Decay Electric Pressed Pigment Palette retails for $49.00 and is available at Sephora, Ulta, Macy’s and urbandecay.com.
