While a lip oil technically isn’t a lipstick it still dons the lips and it’s a formula I’m more likely to wear these days. This particular formula is new to the Colourpop brand and is said to be a nourishing, lightweight gel-oil made with a blend of antioxidant-rich Chamomile & Calendula to leave your lips “kissably soft”!
Five shades of Colourpop Lux Lip Oil have been released so far in Dew Drop (clear), Skinny Dip (soft warm nude), Hot Shot (rich terracotta), Playa Vista (warm mid-tone nude), and Bengal (warm berry).
I found the Colourpop Lux Lip Oils to be comfortable to wear. More so than a gloss, even. You can feel there is a slight thickness that you don’t get with a usual oil which tends to apply with a much more liquidy consistency. When I say “thickness” please don’t take that to mean that they’re goopy in any way, it just doesn’t feel like a straight-up oil, which I imagine is why the formula was described as gel-oil.
The finish is sheer with a very slight tint of color. They fade down nicely and the sponge-tip applicator makes them easy to re-apply on-the-go. Wear time will obviously only be a couple of hours, but that is standard with any sort of gloss or oil.
Long story short. I’m more partial to wearing this Colourpop formula over both a gloss and a run-of-the-mill lip oil because it applies and wears like that perfect hybrid. A++++++!
