The new Covergirl Clean Fresh Vegan Makeup Collection is geared toward giving you that soft, healthy no-makeup, makeup look – which is exactly what I’ve been going for these last few months! This entire line is made using 100% vegan ingredients that hydrate (like coconut milk and aloe vera) and is free of sulfates, formaldehyde, phthalates, parabens and talc.
Currently the Covergirl Clean Fresh collection has four products in the line – Clean Fresh Skin Milk Nourishing Foundation ($11.99), Clean Fresh Cooling Glow Stick Highlighter ($10.99), Clean Fresh Cream Blush ($10.99) and Clean Fresh Tinted Lip Oil ($10.99).
The Covergirl Clean Fresh Skin Milk Nourishing Foundation is touted as the perfect way to show off fresh, healthy skin with a glowing, dewy finish that lasts all day long. It’s also said that this blurs imperfections and creates a more even skin tone. Coverage is sheer, but buildable with 14 shade-adaptable formulas said to match 99% of skin tones and undertones. Perfect for a no-makeup makeup day!
Sheer is 100% correct for this foundation. I find that it’s buildable to a light coverage if you don’t need a whole lot of coverage. Personally, I need a decent amount but have been preferring a more no-makeup sort of look. I’ve been using Urban Decay Stay Naked Foundation for this and then spot concealing. With Covergirl Clean Fresh I’ve had to rely on even more help from concealer which negates the no-makeup makeup look for me. (a great one from the drugstore is Covergirl TruBlend Undercover Concealer – it’s the closest thing to Tarte Shape Tape that I’ve EVER seen).
530 Fair/Light was a perfect match for me and I think that though it seems like there aren’t a lot of shades it’s such a light coverage that they’re correct in saying this line will match almost all skin tones/undertones.
Final verdict? I think that if you have little need to cover things you’d enjoy the finish of this foundation, particularly in the Summer. I like how it looks on my forehead where I’m starting to show some age (aka I need hydration there even though it still looks oily lol) but don’t have any redness or acne scarring.
The Covergirl Clean Fresh Cooling Glow Stick Highlighter is touted as being a portable shimmer highlighter for cheeks and eyes that instantly cools skin, leaving it positively radiant. Available in 4 universally flattering shades. This product is listed as being limited edition on the insert.
This is another product where you’re not going to notice much – but for me that’s what I’m into. I want a bit of a healthy glow without it looking like I actually wore highlighter. My favorite of the four is So Gilty because it looks the most natural. Transparent doesn’t do a thing other than make you look a little wet (as you can see in the swatch). If you are literally into no-makeup then that would be a love for you. It feels nice as a refresher. The other two are more noticeable on me and likely not what I’d reach for, but I still find them subtle.
Final verdict? If you aren’t into highlighting but want to add a bit more of a cooling glow to certain areas you’ll enjoy these. If you want an apparent glow you probably won’t like any of them (or maybe you could use one as a base for a powder highlight, because they do feel great to apply!).
The Covergirl Clean Fresh Cream Blush is touted as providing a fresh, dewy glow that hydrates and plumps cheeks. Four versatile, high-pigment shades give you natural blush shades for day, buildable to more adventurous for evening. These can also be dabbed on the eyes. This product is listed as being limited edition on the insert.
These are pigmented as hell. I don’t know how else to even put it. A small dab will still be too much but they do end up looking like a flush. I put a dab on the back of my hand, took the tiniest amount from that and dabbed it on my cheek, then blended it out with a beauty sponge. I feel like with the lighter products in this collection the pigment in these cream blushes is a little too much. The finish is beautiful and blends nicely, but if you’re going for no-makeup, makeup it’ll likely look to be too much.
Final verdict? For no-makeup looks I’d say no, but if you’re wearing an everyday look or even going out for the night these blend out beautifully and will give you a full day of wear throughout the evening.
The Covergirl Clean Fresh Tinted Lip Oil is touted as a tinted lip oil that is packed with shine and long-lasting moisture for comfy, all-day wear. Available in 6 bold and beautiful shades to transform your look any way you want.
These truly give off a beautiful tint and just enough of the oil to not be runny. The formula glides and as it wears down still continues to give off a sheen and feel hydrating. As they completely fade you’re still left with a slight hint of color behind (other than Juiced, the clear shade, of course).
Final verdict? If you love a tint with a glossy look that doesn’t feel sticky you’ll love these. Since they do leave a slight stain behind I’d recommend using a mirror while you apply. Exclusively available at CVS.
