Back-to-school is the best of times (for mom) and also sometimes the worst of times (for kids). What kid wants Summer to end? It’s not all bad in their eyes and one of the more fun reasons that kids love back-to-school time is when they’re going back-to-school shopping!
School supplies are one of the best ways your little one can express their individuality and in today’s post I have a few fabulous picks that my own kids are loving.
The coolest backpack.
If you have a tween daughter or even a daughter nearing that tween age you hear about Justice non-stop. Everything has to come from Justice. If your kid isn’t on that yet, just get ready, because it’s happening.
Every year we get a backpack from Justice. This year it’s all about the Mermaid Flip Sequin Backpack obviously because of the major sparkle and the fun of the flip. As a parent I can appreciate that every year the Justice backpacks keep my daughter’s favorite items and school essentials secure with loads of pockets for everything. The padded straps keep her shoulders from hurting (because this bag can support up to 100 pounds of weight!) plus that pom charm is super cute too!
The coolest first aid.
No kid likes to get a boo-boo but every kid likes a fun band-aid. me4kidz offers both fun and functional products that both you and your kids will flip for. We always have a Medibuddy First Aid Kit on hand because it’s perfect for travel and houses everything you need. 50 products in all from band-aids to ointment to even stickers!
I tend to toss one of the Medibuddy kits in my kids backpacks as well just because it’s not always easy to run to the nurse for a band-aid (even though technically they’re supposed to but it really takes a lot of time out of their day). Also in their backpacks are the Little Buddy Antibacterial Wipes for quick hand cleaning as well as a Cool-It Buddy Instant Ice Pack (for bumps on bus rides…. it happens).

The coolest lunch.
Ask most kids what their favorite part of the day is and they’re going to tell you lunch/recess. This is their social time so they look forward to it all day.
Ask any parent what their kids eat and most will simply reply with “a lot and none of it can touch”. My kids are older and they’re still on the “my foods can’t touch” kick. I keep everything cool all day and separated with the help of PackIt.
The best-selling Freezable Lunch Bag (shown here in Unicorn Sky) features an expandable width (it can fit TWO of the new Mod Lunch and Snack Containers with plenty of other room for more snacks) making it big enough to house everything my kid would need to eat for lunch as well as some snacks to share. Yes, share, because these kids trade food like you wouldn’t believe.
The ultra-portable Freezable Snack Bag (shown here in Spaceman) is perfect for snacks but also for medicine and any cosmetics, making it perfection for parents to keep in their bag or in the car for travel.
My latest, current love is the Mod Lunch Box (shown here in Mint) because I can easily customize my kids lunch each time I pack it using the three leak-resistant dividers (keeping that food separated). The lid is also leak-resistant saving me from having to clean out the inside of a lunch bag every single day when the kids get home. This box easily fits inside the Freezable Lunch Bag mentioned above!
The coolest mom.
Yeah I said it. I’m the coolest mom because I put lunches in my kids notes. You can be cool too with these Tear-Off Lunch Notes from MyWish4U.
Sometimes (read: all the time) mornings are super busy and there isn’t time for a handwritten note. The MyWish4U notes are easy to tear off for a quick connection to your kids to have with you during school time. You can pick from Facts & Funnies, Riddles & Giggles (my son’s favorite) or Wacky Facts & Laughs.
Each note (all 101 of them!) is unique and blank on the backside just in case you do have time for something a little more customized. Plus, they’re educational… but don’t tell your kids that.
Head to the Target back-to-school section from July-September to check out MyWish4U Lunchbox Notes!
The coolest supplies.
Of all of the classroom supplies you wouldn’t think scissors would be hard to come by during school but for kids they totally are. Mine tend to want to have their own vs. what the school provides and they always pick out the fun ones like these Westcott 5″ Kids Jellies Pointed Scissors.
Jellies are designed for comfort and control while cutting and are perfect for daily use no matter if your child is right or left handed. But mostly my own kids just love how they look and feel!
The coolest tools.
A flashlight might not be the very first thing that comes to your mind for back-to-school, but you’d be surprised how often my kids have needed one during school hours. When the power goes out, even if your little one isn’t scared of the dark, everyone will be relieved that someone around has a light source. Case in point, this past Easter the school had a blackout during the party. Having the light saves from chaos, trust me.
Our faves are the MAGLITE Solitaire LED (which I usually bestow to the teacher) and the Mini Maglite Pro LED (which is a keychain flashlight) which I have my kids keep in their pencil box or on their bookbags. Both offer compact designs with powerful beams of light

The coolest books.
The days of physical books are not over and we love a good girl protagonist in this house. Merci Suarez Changes Gears by Candlewick Press follows your Merci as she navigates life and friendship with the support of her multigenerational family.
This book focuses on close-knit family relationships, particularly between Merci and her grandfather who is battling with Alzheimer’s. One of the biggest things I love about this book is that it laces accurate and natural usage of Spanish words throughout. My daughter will be starting Spanish this year and I feel that this will help her grasp simple word usage much more quickly.
