When I was a kid all I wanted was brighter hair. Mine has always been brown with some random natural highlights through it, but my mom was a blondie so of course, I wanted to be a blondie too. Even back then (it was the 80’s, y’all! WOOO!) to do something like this, especially on a kid, you used SunIn Hair Lightener. Now that I’m a parent to a daughter with dark blonde hair who wants it to be lighter I’m excited to share my affordable DIY hair highlighting at-home knowledge with her!
SunIn is an alcohol-free, heat-activated hair lightener that has been around since the 70’s. Because it’s not just activated by sunlight it can be used year-round as a fast and easy hair lightening treatment – just add blow dryer! It’s suitable for hair colors from blonde to medium-brown.
My favorite thing about SunIn is that it’s simple, quick and easy to use. You just spray and either let your kid go play in the sun or hit their strands with a blow dryer. Once the heat hits the formula the natural highlights in your hair get a boost as well as an extra dose of shine. It’s basically going to do the same thing the sun will do to your hair over time just quicker and, if you want, without the sun ever even being involved. The formula also conditions as it lightens which is a lifesaver for me because I usually have to use a spray conditioner to get through my daughters thick strands anyway. This is two birds, one stone for us!
Do we love it and does it work? UM, YES. I think my daughters before and after pic below speaks for itself!
