I don’t know about you, but when a holiday involving me in any way comes around I like to celebrate all month long. Mother’s Day is May 10th this year and I’ve already begun preparing for the day by making sure I carve a little bit of time out of the day for ME….. the mom (picture me flexing 😉 ).
On the actual day of mom I’ll of course live it up but for every day after I still plan to continue to carve time out for myself. Generally I lack focus on the area of “me” throughout the rest of the year. I know I won’t succeed at carving out “me time” for the 365 days of the year, but anyone can certainly do it for just one month!
Below are some items I love to use when I’m having a “me” moment. Hopefully they’ll give you ideas for your own “me” moments or help you decide on a Mother’s Day gift to help your own mom have her “me” moment as well!
A Satisfying Sip
There is nothing like a refreshing beverage to help you relax. When the times are for only me I like to “adult” and use a fancy glass. It helps to remind me that this is my time.
The Double Old Fashioned Markham by Waterford Crystal glasses from replacements.com are perfect for this because I can use them with any beverage – from wine to cocktails to water. The designs are elegant and easily add style to your favorite drinks!
Pick up your own cocktail glasses at replacements.com. Save 10% off orders $125+ with promo code MRBB10BP // 20% off orders $500+ with promo code MRVV20BP (Valid thru 5/31/20 11:59pm PT. Valid one time per household. Offers cannot be used to purchase Rolex watches, gift cards, combined with other promotions, offers, or discounts, or redeemed on prior purchases or exchanges).
Setting the Scene
Boys live in this house and somehow their smells take over everywhere. I don’t want their smells in my space. To combat this I make sure I’m taking my time in an area that has a dedicated Essential Mist Diffuser from Air Wick.
These home fragrance diffusers are portable and small enough to fit anywhere plus the device runs off of batteries so it’s easy to move around as necessary. There are over 15 different nature-inspired fragrances to choose from that just snap right in – no need to mix with water! It shuts off automatically to conserve battery life and has 3 fragrance intensity setting options.
Truly the perfect Mother’s Day Gift that keeps on giving!
Curl Up With a Good Book… Literally
Since I’m putting the focus on me I want to make sure that I’m all alone and concentrating on a fun book. My me-time doesn’t last long so I love to go through recipe books and bookmark ones that I think would be perfect for myself and the hubs to enjoy. Not worrying if the kids will eat or drink it is essential during these times.
For an awesome book of yummy drinks check out Drinking with Chickens: Free-Range Cocktails for the Happiest Hour by Kate E. Richards. It’s the cocktail book you always needed but never knew you needed plus the author has a fun, energetic writing style that I can get behind. Even though this is technically a recipe book you can still lose yourself in it.
You don’t need to drink with chickens literally but if you do make sure to tag me in the pics.
For When I Actually Want to Read
Rarely do I get any me-time where I can get more than a chapter in, so I like to make sure that when I’m actually taking the time to read a book that I’m reading something I know I’ll enjoy.
Currently I’m finishing up Sunrise on Half Moon Bay by Robyn Carr. You may recognize the author as being the same one from the Netflix series “Virgin River”! This is a feel-good, women’s fiction novel about two sisters far apart in age that need to learn to support and lean on each other. I’m really hoping they make a series out of this one as well, or even a movie!
Smart About Protection
Sometimes when I read I’m using an electronic device so I bring in my blue light blocking glasses. Currently I’m using the Hepburn Frames in Clear and Blue Light Blocking lenses from EyeBuyDirect. I love the style and fit plus I always have an awesome experience when shopping with EyeBuyDirect.
I think they make me look a lot smarter, too. 😉

A Quick, Daily Step
A bit of my me-time that runs over into my daily life has been adding a quick step into my nightly routine. The Lash-Fix It Kit from Grande Cosmetics features a a full size GrandeLASH-MD Lash Enhancing Serum to promote longer, fuller looking lashes and the GrandeREPAIR Leave-In Lash Conditioner to protect, soften and soothe your lashes.
With age my lashes aren’t what they once were so I’m hoping this helps out. I’m also putting a little on my brows to try and make them a little less sparse.
Primping Me Pretty
Call me crazy but lately instead of playing with colorful makeup I’ve been playing with neutral makeup in order to simplify my daily routine as much as possible. Life isn’t getting any less hectic and the more minutes I save the better!
Kits is the necessity and quickness is the goal. Two products that have been getting me there are The Fold Out Face All-in-One Palette and Spin-On Lip Gloss from Woosh Beauty.
The Fold Out Face All-in-One Palette truly does have everything I need for a beautiful looking but thoughtless sort of easy makeup application. Generally all-in-one palettes freak me out because I hate when creams mix with powder BUT this palette comes with plastic covers for the creams! It’s BRILLIANT! Why don’t more companies do this?! They even include little brushes that are numbered to correspond with the numbers on the palette. Shades are available for all skin tones.
The Spin-On Lip Gloss feels great and isn’t sticky. It features a rolling tip (like a paint roller!) for even coverage, is easy to apply and looks fantastic on. The shade shown in the pic is Beige Frosted but 8 shades are available to compliment any skin tone.

All good things must come to an end. Unless I’m reading I generally do not take my phone with me during a me-time moment. Because I try not to use my phone more than necessary I need a watch with me.
I’m a huge and long-time fan of the G-SHOCK Women’s Watch from Casio. The one shown here is model number GMDS6900SR-7. I’m totally into the transparent band and anyone who has been around here for even a second knows that I love rose gold over all other metals. These watches are super tough, shock resistant and water resistant – making it so even my own personal clumsiness won’t be the end of things. The icing on the cake? I can add an alarm – which is essential for me in all aspects of life and not just during me-time.
How do you carve out “me time”? Are you like me and use holidays to basically force yourself to do it or do you make sure to always plan ahead? I’d love to know your tips and tricks in the comments below!
