After I saw the spoilers for the December 2018 Boxycharm I knew exactly which products I wanted to get this month… and I kind of got what I wanted… kind of.
what is boxycharm
Boxycharm is a monthly beauty subscription box filled with 5-6 luxury items, 4 of which will always be full-sized. The monthly cost of Boxycharm is $21 but if you subscribe for 3, 6, 9 or 12 months you’ll receive a slight discount on the monthly boxes (up to $19.25). Renewals are automatic but you can cancel at any time.
Each Boxycharm box has a minimum value of $100 and you’ll receive anything from makeup to skincare to beauty tools. With some products shades can vary though with other products all boxes will have them included.
To find out how to best use the products received in the monthly box you can check out tutorials and looks shared by the “Charmer” community on social media.
Members are treated to exclusive offers from the best brands in beauty. You’ll also be eligible to win free products through giveaways and receive reward points which are redeemable in the Boxycharm Charm Shop.
what’s inside
Tarte Glitter Lip Paint ($20.00). I received the shade Strike Gold.
Though on the Boxycharm product sheet this is called “Tarte Glitter Lip Paint” the Tarte website refers to it as the Tarte Tarteist Shimmering Lip Paint.
This is a sheer lip gloss infused with shimmering glitter to deliver a “luscious, multi-dimensional and high-shine finish”. While this wasn’t something I’d have reached for I found that I loved how it looked (especially over-top of the Bodyography Lip Liner) and how it felt on.
Everyone will receive this product and there are 3 shade variations.
Bodyography Lip Liner ($12.00). I received the shade Timber. Shades sent out will vary.
This Lip Liner is described as a “smooth yet long-wearing formula” that “glides on effortlessly”. I found the formula to be a little dry feeling but it did last awhile on the lips. Though it gunked up a bit in the corners of my mouth as the day went on I was impressed with the overall performance and will wear it again!

Pretty Vulgar Translucent Setting Powder ($32.00). The Powder Room Translucent Setting Powder “Matte About It” is described as being a “weightless, skin-smoothing, translucent setting powder” that will “lock your makeup in place while enhancing the look of your foundation”.
I’ve been using this since it arrived and I love the finished look it gives to my makeup. I’m also really impressed with how well it keeps the oiliness of my skin at bay and also seems to brighten my under-eye area nicely when I bake.

Cosmedix Detox Activated Charcoal Mask ($30.00). A mask made in heaven for skin-types like mine where pores are detoxified of dirt and impurities and skin brightness is visibly improved. I haven’t tried this particular mask out yet but I do love other products from the brand and am quite confident this will be perfect for me.

PYT Mini Hair Straightener ($75.00). A tiny, travel-friendly styling tool that makes it easy to get at baby hairs, bangs or touch-up curls on-the go!

final thoughts
Was the box worth the money? YES!
I almost bought the Pretty Vulgar Translucent Setting Powder during the Sephora sale so that alone makes this box worth the money for me. I also ended up really loving the Bodyography liner and the Tarte gloss!
The retail value of the Pretty Vulgar Translucent Setting Powder alone is more than what you’d pay for this ENTIRE BOX.
You can still sign up for the December Boxycharm here. HURRY, supplies are limited. (Please note, there is a chance you won’t get the same box as me, as most of the products are variation items).
All of the products listed above are FULL SIZE (except if noted otherwise).
For reference – my box is VERSION 2. I put box and the contents on my shipping scale and it says 15.4 oz. For reference my tracking info says 0.95 lb (or 15.2 oz).
The retail value of the entire December 2018 Boxycharm? $169.00! This is WAY MORE than the retail value of last month’s box and with many items I’m loving it’s very much worth the $21 investment.
