Sometimes my blackheads are so prominent that I can see them THROUGH my makeup. It’s a fact – my pores are huge, my skin is oily and blackheads are a real thing.
How do I remove the blackheads to make sure my makeup looks flawless? Two products are not only essential, but also affordable – Bioré® Witch Hazel Ultra Deep Cleansing Pore Strips and Bioré® Witch Hazel Pore Clarifying Toner.
what is it
I’ve always been a MAJOR FAN of the Bioré Pore Strips (literally since high school). I LOVE looking at the pore strip after I remove it from my nose. Some people pop pimples, I prefer to look at the inner workings of my blackheads.
The Bioré Witch Hazel Pore Strips ($8.47 for a box of 6) are brand new & the concept has me thrilled because Witch Hazel is a fantastic ingredient to help battle breakouts. It’s known for it’s astringent properties and also for tightening pores.
Not all pore strips are created equal! The strips are dermatologist tested and use a blend of C-bond technology which deep cleans, removes blackheads, refines pores and helps to prevent future breakouts. It’s like a “super-magnet”, getting at even your most clogged pores.
I also just learned that toner is a necessary first step (see more on that below). Bioré® Witch Hazel Pore Clarifying Toner ($6.47 for 8 oz.) makes it easy to stay on task with the right ingredients.
This toner is lightweight & helps restore skins balance as it deep cleans and removes residue that your cleanser may have missed. In addition to the Witch Hazel it also contains salicylic acid to control oil and treat blemishes.
how to use
After cleansing your skin squeeze some of the Bioré® Witch Hazel Pore Clarifying Toner onto a round cotton pad and swipe lightly over the face. 1-3 times a day is recommended but because excessive drying may occur you’ll want to start with just once a day. My skin is more sensitive so I tend to err on the side of caution and do once every other day for the first week.
When you’re done toning thoroughly wet your nose and apply a Bioré® Witch Hazel Ultra Deep Cleansing Pore Strip (smooth side down). Press down to ensure good contact and let dry for about 10-15 minutes. When it’s ready to come off it’ll feel dry (similar to papier mâché). Slowly peel off the pore strip by grasping at the edges and pulling both sides toward the center of your nose.
I love to let the Bioré® Witch Hazel Ultra Deep Cleansing Pore Strip sit on my nose while I do my eye makeup. It’s easy to remove after that is completed and I’m ready to continue on with the rest of my skincare routine, followed by finishing up my makeup look.
