FINALLY a big makeup brand collabs with an OG Beauty YouTuber! Recently Makeup Revolution has partnered with Emily Noel (EmilyNoel83) to create The Emily Edit palettes – The Needs and The Wants.
The Needs is a Face & Eye Palette that houses your everyday essentials. Definitely more “me” but how could you not want The Wants?
what is it
The Makeup Revolution x The Emily Edit: The Wants Eyeshadow Palette features 24 shades of eye shadow in matte, satin and shimmer finishes.
The Cream (white cream matte), Midwest (light tan matte), Oh Heavens! (beige cream satin), Cupcake (peach satin), Hobby (light brown matte), Dues Paid (red brick matte), LoveTons (plum matte), Laughcry (blood orange matte), Prayer (sepia brown matte), Eve Rose (light lilac satin with a gold shift), Pizzazz (maroon purple shimmer), Cheer (maroon matte), Grateful (lime green shimmer), Belle Violet (lavender shimmer), Family (deep purple matte), Heartbeat (chestnut shimmer), Good Vibes (rich copper shimmer), Capricorn (mocha brown satin), Top Story (gold shimmer), Corduroy (emerald green matte), Side Hustle (khaki green shimmer with a gold shift), Pi Phi (plum purple matte), Apartment (wood brown matte) and Dark & Early (black matte).
The outer packaging is peach with the font being a beautiful rose gold color. Inside there is a full-sized mirror opposite the eye shadow shades.
The packaging is made of a light plastic but closes safely and securely.
review
The Makeup Revolution x The Emily Edit: The Wants Eyeshadow Palette truly has everything you WANT and even NEED – no matter what type of look you’re going for. You have your crease colors, transition shades, matte brow highlight and beautiful colors in multiple finishes.
I found the mattes to all swatch and perform beautifully, particularly on the eye. When swatching I did have to work to build them up, but really the performance on the eye is what matters.
The satin and shimmer shades were also wonderful to work with. The only exception to that, for me, is with the shade “Heartbeat”. At first swatch almost nothing came off and when I tried to blend and build the color up it just got streaky and chunky. To get the swatch below I had to go over it 6 times and really work for it. On the eye I had similar problems.
Initially, based off of photos and descriptions, I thought the palette to be a good mix of both warm and cool tones. Now that I’ve swatched it myself and also used the shades I find it leans more warm.
Something odd about the palette, IMO, is that some of the shades seem to swatch as a different color than what they look in the pan. For example Eve Rose looks like a beautiful pastel lilac when in fact it wears as a pink gold shift with a lilac undertone. It’s certainly more beautiful than anticipated at first glance.
I also had the same experience with Side Hustle, which appears to be a super saturated olive when in fact it’s a more muted, dusky olive with golden shimmer. Top Story looks to be gold in the pan but when worn has an orange/copper look to it. Pizzazz is also much more muted.
While this palette looks to be very intimidating I don’t believe it’s hard to use. The shadows work well (with the exception of Heartbeat) and because they’re more muted they’re more easily worn for everyday. You can amp up the mattes and satins by building the color or by using the shimmers wet. To get a toned-down look that won’t be necessary though, as the overall performance of this palette is good.
I think that the MUR x Emily Edit The Wants Eyeshadow Palette is an excellent palette and a great deal – 24 shades for $20? Sign me up. This was my first experience using Makeup Revolution eyeshadows and based off of this palette it definitely will not be my last.

I haven’t tried Makeup Revolution yet… the shades in this palette look really beautiful and I believe this would be a great palette if you don’t want to invest a lot of money in a more high end makeup brand, while you still get a lot of shades to play with.
If only someone would make an affordable palette with mostly cool tones, I would be so happy! I love this has everything you need in one place, all the mattes, satin and shimmer – no juggling 3 palettes. Thought you did a stellar job applying in front of camera! I want your eyes – just hand them over and no one gets hurt *grins*
LMAO thank you! Colourpop has a nice, cool-toned palette. It’s called Fame! $22 at Ulta and you get 16 shades.
That palette looks absolutely stunning! The shades look really pigmented
