If you’re looking to get an eye look that is both sultry and sexy then look no further than the Urban Decay Shortcut On The Run Mini Eyeshadow Palette.
what is it
This product is part of a trio of palettes, each with 8 eye shadow shades inspired by the original, full-sized Born to Run Eyeshadow Palette.
Each is “travel-ready” with finishes in matte as well as metallic. All 3 of the palettes also include a complementary, iridescent transformer shade.
This post will focus on Urban Decay Shortcut, which is a mostly cool-toned eyeshadow palette that is anything but neutral (though you could get something a bit more understated with it) with saturated cranberry tones.
Eight (8 x 0.02 oz/ 0.8 g) shades are included in Sin (pale nude shimmer), Laced (pinky-taupe matte), Shortcut (medium rose-pink matte), Afterhours (soft black satin with iridescent micro-sparkle), Back Alley (chocolate brown matte), Rendezvous (Bordeaux matte with blue-sparkle), Gash (metallic brick red) and Zone (metallic pink-red with copper micro-sparkle transformer).

review
The Urban Decay Shortcut On The Run Mini Eyeshadow Palette is, IMO, the most intense of the three. My reasoning for this is because it’s the palette that has the least amount of everyday-wear neutrals – which is not necessarily a bad thing!
The palette itself is just under the size of my hand and though it’s cardboard it’s sturdy. The inside features a generously sized mirror parallel to 8 eye shadows. It’s compact enough to be perfect for travel.
The matte shades (Laced, Shortcut, Back Alley and Redezvous) didn’t swatch well but the wear and application of the formula is exceptional. When you swatch them they feel dry and Laced & Shortcut don’t appear to have the pigment you’d want, but when I put them on I was impressed with the color payoff and blending.
The metallic shades (Sin, Afterhours and Gash) were stunning on their own and worked nicely. I did use Sin wet over a sticky base to create the look below because I really wanted to amp it up. If you’re just using this for a neutral look or at the inner corners then using it wet won’t be necessary.
The transformer shade (Zone) works best alone when it’s wet but can be used dry over over shades to give them more tonal dimension.
Overall, the Urban Decay Shortcut Palette is beautiful and IMO, if you’re into these shades, worthy of a home in your collection.
