Call me predictable but I love when NARS releases their holiday eyeshadow palette every year (like last year’s NARSissist Wanted Eyeshadow Palette. I’m not talking about the ones from the actual Holiday Collection, I mean the random one that always pops up afterwards.
This year that palette is the NARS Ignited Eyeshadow Palette.
what is it
The NARS Ignited Eyeshadow Palette is said to have “versatile, pigment-rich shades that can be used as an eyeshadow or eyeliner, applied wet or dry”. They’re also touted as being “long-wearing” and “crease-resistant” shades that can be applied sheer or layered up for more drama.
Twelve (12) eye shadow shades (0.04 oz. each) are included in this palette in: Hammamet I (matte beige), St-Paul-De-Vence I (shimmering nectarine), Light Up (sparkling pink pearl), Atomic (sparkling bubblegum pink), Sophia (matte rich cool brown), Supernova (metallic coral with pink), In Heat (sparkling magenta), Ignition (sparkling rose), Nouméa (matte sienna), Fired Up (metallic rust), Fuse (sparkling purple with blue) and Ponte Noir (sparkling eggplant with pink).
review
The NARS Ignited Eyeshadow Palette is natural, neutral… kind of. There aren’t a whole lot of mattes in there but you have enough to do an everyday, work-safe, easy look. Then in the evening you can dampen your finger, press any (or even all) of the glitter shades on top, and you’re ready to go out.
When I wore this palette I had no issue with blending the mattes and they applied beautifully. I’m going to go there and say these are some of the best matte shades I’ve ever tried from NARS.
The glitter shades MUST be worn wet or it’s going to look like a dusting. If you also wear them over a sticky base you’ll be able to amp them up even more. My eye looks lasted all day over primer (one look is shown below, another can be seen in this video).
The sturdy case has a beautiful print on the outside with a full sized mirror on the inside. It’s easy to travel with and basically take with you anywhere.
My only complaint would be that the shade names are listed as a sticker on the back of the palette rather than directly underneath the coordinating shadows. As much as I love the streamlined, no wasted space look of NARS Ignited it would be my own personal preference to have the names of the shades more easily accessible. This type of labeling is common for NARS, however if you’re new to the brand it’s worth pointing out.
Do you need this? If you’re someone like me… yes. Let me explain this.
This is going to sound weird, but this is a very “natural, neutral” looking palette with a lot of shimmer. SO. If you’re looking for someone completely, ONLY natural… then no, don’t get it. If you’re looking for something totally wild… then no, don’t get it.
HOWEVER. If you’re a person (hi, me) that loves that “natural, neutral” safe look but wants to play with some really fun, beautiful, multi-dimensional glitters… then YES, you need it.

[…] The packaging is beautiful due to the fact that I’m partial to sparkly things and also red) and sized like the other NARS Eyeshadow Palettes of the same style (see an example here). […]
