Do you need the Anastasia Beverly Hills Sultry Eyeshadow Palette?
If you have a ton of makeup and aren’t a fan of metallics, then probably no. But it’s likely if you ARE a fan of makeup, particularly ABH palettes, this eye shadow grouping will call to you anyway.
what is it
The Anastasia Beverly Hills Sultry Eyeshadow Palette is said to be “an essential smoky-eye shadow collection with 14 shades, featuring neutral, cool-toned mattes and metallics. These shadows feature Anastasia Beverly Hills’ signature full-pigment, and easy-to-blend formula. The palette includes double-ended brush for effortless application”.
The 14 shades you’ll get in this palette are Fresh (matte ivory pink), Pearl (metallic pearl white with a soft-pink undertone), Steampunk (metallic topaz bronze), Rose Quartz (metallic soft peach with a pink shift), Ember (metallic bronzed khaki), Bloom (matte coral pink), Birch (matte mid-tone yellow taupe), Cinder (metallic cool-tone beige taupe with gold flecks), Twig (matte mid-tone taupe), Teak (metallic golden brown), Dystopian (matte dark ash brown), Cyborg (metallic silver with a violet undertone), Slate (matte slate grey) and Noir (matte deep black).
Performance wise the Anastasia Beverly Hills Sultry Eyeshadow Palette is freaking fantastic. Easy to work with when you apply and blend.
As usual the metallic shades perform best when used wet – particularly overtop of an opaque, sticky base. Wear time was all day over a primer.
As for the brush… if you’ve read any of my other ABH palette reviews you know I 50% hate the brush. The shadow side is fantastic, that blender is worse than a Morphe blender after you’ve washed it 300 times and that is pretty damn bad.
So do you NEED this palette? Probably, no. The metallics aren’t anything you likely don’t already have and I would personally like to see more mattes. There are 7 mattes to the 7 metallics, which is even, but I personally only use a metallic to amp up a look. I’d get a lot more use out of this palette if there were several more, wearable matte colors.
Are you going to WANT it? If you’re into having a mostly cool-toned eyeshadow palette featuring an array of metal shades to amp up your otherwise neutral eye looks? Definitely, yes. Plus… that gorgeous packaging is a life necessity. Obviously.
