I really thought I could resist the Dose of Colors Desi x Katy Friendcation Eyeshadow Palette but once I swatched those matte shades in person there was no turning back.

what is it

The Dose of Colors Desi x Katy Collection is the second makeup collaboration between the Dose of Colors brand and YouTubers Desi Perkins and Katy DeGroot (aka Lustrelux).

This collection is loaded up with beautiful products but my heart belongs to eyeshadow the Friendcation Eyeshadow Palette.

Friendcation is made up of 10 eye shadow shades in a “variety of colors and formulas” including “long-wearing mattes and ultra-dazzling eyeshadows”. It’s said for intense color payoff apply with your finger and for softer coverage apply with your preferred brush.

The 10 shades included are Basic (muted light pink), Cheens (deep chocolate brown), Necessary (neutral mid tone brown), Dirty Money (olive green w/ antique gold shift), A Moment (electric royal blue w/ purple shift), Try Me (cranberry red w/ burnt orange shift), Just a Kiss (iridescent champagne w/ pink & gold shift), Girl Bye (smokey marsala), Churro (rich warm brown) and Game Over (midnight black w/ silver reflects).

The Dose of Colors Friendcation Eyeshadow Palette did not disappoint. Especially those beautiful matte shades.

It was the dazzle of the metallic that drew me in but the matte shadows that made me stay loving the party. Each matte was pigmented, smooth, blendable, long-wearing…. anything and everything that you would look for in an eyeshadow.

The metallics are stunning in the pan and on the eye… with a little work. It does say to apply them with your finger and that definitely does help, but in my experience they need to be wet also.

I personally HATE to apply shadow with my finger. It’s messy and 9 times out of 10 it ends up somewhere else on my face. You can press these shadows to your eye for some oomph but I found that dampening your finger ever so slightly helped with that.

My preferred method is to use a flat shadow brush. I wet the brush and press the product onto my lid. You CANNOT swipe at these shadows, the formula will shift and dull. You need to use a press and push motion and do the work. You’ll be dipping back into the pan quite a bit.

The end result is gorgeous. It’ll be up to the individual whether or not the extra time and effort if worth it for them. For me, I can see myself hitting pan on those mattes and getting a lot of use out of the metallics for the holiday season.

Plus, that packaging is HIT THE FLOOR STUNNING!
