If you’ve been watching along on my social media I’ve given some hints as to what the spoilers are for the Boxycharm September 2018 Beauty Box.
It’s safe to say I’ve been really excited to get this one. It’s probably my favorite month so far!
Sign up for Boxycharm Here!
what is boxycharm
Boxycharm is a monthly beauty subscription box filled with 5-6 luxury items, 4 of which will always be full-sized. The monthly cost of Boxycharm is $21 but if you subscribe for 3, 6, 9 or 12 months you’ll receive a slight discount on the monthly boxes (up to $19.25). Renewals are automatic but you can cancel at any time.
Each Boxycharm box has a minimum value of $100 and you’ll receive anything from makeup to skincare to beauty tools. With some products shades can vary though with other products all boxes will have them included.
To find out how to best use the products received in the monthly box you can check out tutorials and looks shared by the “Charmer” community on social media.
Members are treated to exclusive offers from the best brands in beauty. You’ll also be eligible to win free products through giveaways and receive reward points which are redeemable in the Boxycharm Charm Shop.
what’s inside
Pretty Vulgar Nightingale Smokey Eyeshadow Palette ($35.00). Made up of 12 pigmented matte, shimmer and satin shades the Nightingale palette promises to help you create your best looks. Each eyeshadow is said to be soft, luxuriously smooth, easy to blend and long-wearing.
12 Eyeshadow shades are included in Nocturnal (ivory matte), Pillow Fight (champagne satin), Break Free (shimmering white), Darkside (shimmering smoke satin), Hide & Seek (light gray matte), Clutch (rose gold shimmer), Flip Out (chocolate brown matte), Eye Spy (bronze satin), Silver Spoon (blue slate satin), Swoop (cool brown matte), After Midnight (deep gray matte), All Nighter (black brown matte).
I’m SO EXCITED to finally own this palette. It’s everything they say it is and more… I definitely need more from Pretty Vulgar (eye look break-down is below)
Everyone will receive this palette.
Laura Geller Baked Blush-n-Brighten ($28.00). This gorgeous, glowy, baked blush is said to be smooth, long-wearing and infused with skin loving antioxidants. I received the shade Tropic Hues.
Right off you’ll notice the shade of this is beautiful. My preference for blush is matte or satin, very rarely do I like any type of blush that is shimmery, however this one shocked me. It’s shimmery in a swatch but not so much on the cheeks. It’s understated enough that I can pull it off. It’s also REALLY pigmented so a little goes a long way.
Subscribers will either receive this blush or the Girlactik Skin Glow Duo.
Alamar Cosmetics Ojitos Brush Set ($18.00). Made with 100% synthetic fibers these brushes are said to be extremely soft, durable and essential to your brush collection. I’m inclined to agree! In this trio you’ll get a flat painter brush, a fluffy blender brush and a flat tight liner brush.
These are super soft and work perfectly. I was especially (surprisingly) grateful to have the flat tight liner brush included in this set so that I could push a black shadow into my lash line and have something to go on for when I applied the Butter London liner.
Everyone will receive this brush set.
Hank & Henry Liquid Lipstick ($17.00). This long-wear liquid lipstick is said to glide on smoothly, be highly pigmented and dry to a full coverage, matte finish that isn’t drying. I received the shade Petal Pusher.
This particular liquid lipstick applied evenly and is super pigmented. Even more importantly it.does.not.budge. Like, at all. I had to scrub with makeup remover and it still left a decent stain behind. For me, that’s a big plus because I don’t want my lip color going anywhere, particularly if I’ve spent the time putting on a dark, matte shade.
A few cons are, as with most matte liquid lips, it’s just not comfortable at all (very drying) and I’m not a fan of the frosting scent. I can’t explain it… it’s not offensive, but it’s not pleasant. You can smell it as you apply but luckily that scent doesn’t linger at all. However, the formula is so awesome I can look past these.
Subscribers will either receive this Hank & Henry Liquid Lipstick, a LORAC Pro Liquid Lipstick, a Violet Voss Liquid Lipstick or a Gerard Cosmetics HydraPlump.
Butter London Stroke of WOW Roll On Liner ($19.00). This liner is said to do all of the work for you in delivering a precise, ultra-fine winged liner. The formula is said to be quick drying, smudge-proof and guaranteed to last.
I did not think I’d like this. So this is fabulous and QUICK (what?!) for lining your upper lash line. Like… first time – perfect, straight… unheard of line. However, my lids are hooded and I’m mid-30’s so there are some fine lines at the outer corners of my eye. This is not the liner to make a wing with if you have eyes like mine. Also the formula cracks where the lines are no matter how long you wait for it to set.
I’ll definitely continue to use it for lining my upper lash line but I’ll be reaching elsewhere to make that wing.
Subscribers will either receive this Butter London liner, the Butter London Glazen Lustrous Liner or the Luscious Angel Eyes Eyeshadow Primer.

final thoughts
Was the box worth the money? SO MUCH OF THE YES!
I’ve been wanting the Pretty Vulgar Nightingale Smokey Eyeshadow Palette since it launched.. that alone is worth more than the price of this ENTIRE BOX. You can still buy this box here (HURRY, supplies are limited).
All of the products listed above are FULL SIZE (except where noted).
The retail value of the entire September 2018 Boxycharm? $117.00! This was a bit higher of a retail value than last month’s box but even if it wasn’t I still deem it very much worth the $21 investment. Obviously.
