I truly can’t even tell you how awesome of a monthly beauty subscription box Boxycharm has been.
For the last four months I’ve been blown away by the sheer value of the box in it’s entirety, not to mention the fact that they’re actually sending notable makeup and beauty items that I’ve been wanting to try out or am already into.
Get comfy, because you aren’t ready for what is inside the August 2018 Boxycharm. You’re also probably not ready for my thoughts. đ

BOXYCHARM Beauty Subscription Box Unboxing for August 2018 – Laura Lee Los Angeles, Smashbox, NCLA, BECCA, Wander Beauty, Bang Beauty

BOXYCHARM Beauty Subscription Box Unboxing for August 2018 – Laura Lee Los Angeles Party Animal Eyeshadow Palette
whatâs inside
Laura Lee Los Angeles Party Animal Eyeshadow Palette (19.00). Of the two palettes she released Boss Babe is my own personal cup of tea but Party Animal does fit this months theme and we can all use a few neon shades to play around with every once in while. đ I’ve also been DYING to check out the brand.
I rarely include a heavy review in the subscription box run-downs but this time it’s necessary. This palette is freaking terrible. I went off on a tangent on my Instagram stories and I can’t even BEGIN to tell you how many people DM’d me thanking me for giving my honest thoughts because they felt like they were the only ones.
That is INSANE to me that people could review this item and be dishonest. It was so hard to work with and blend… it was patchy, dry, powdery, didn’t blend for anything… every time I tried to pack more color on it would take more away. I ended up having to put glitter over it and use another eye shadow palette for blending.
I’m still not happy with the look, but there it is below, in all it’s sad glory.
Sorry, y’all. Everyone will receive this item.

products used: Karity Pre-Shadow // MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Painterly // Laura Lee Los Angeles Party Animal Palette (Karaoke & Damage Control) // Karity Rose All Day Palette (Bottled Up, Fizz, Drunchies) // PUR Get a Grip (for the glitter) // Pixi Beauty Liquid Fairy Lights in BareBrilliance // Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Chaos (bottom waterline) // Charlotte Tilbury Feline Flick Pen (top liner) // Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Lashes Volume 2 Mascara (2 coats top & bottom) // IT Cosmetics Superhero Mascara (1 coat top)
(plus 45 minutes of my time for ONE EYE and, like, 5 million brushes trying to fix this hot mess)
Becca Backlight Priming Filter ($18.00). I do love Becca products and their primers aren’t something I’ve tried a lot. Backlight was the one I received and while it looked good upon applying it didn’t work out well for my oily skin. I would however be interested in checking out Ever Matte!
This is a deluxe size and you’ll either get Backlight, First Light or Ever Matte.

BOXYCHARM Beauty Subscription Box Unboxing for August 2018 – Smashbox Be Legendary Liquid Pigment in Pink Drank
Smashbox Be Legendary Liquid Pigment ($24.00). The shade I received is in Pink Drank (midtone pink). Obsessed doesn’t even begin to cover it. The shade is perfect for me, the finish is beautiful and it wears well.
Shades & finishes will vary but everyone will receive a Smashbox lip product.

BOXYCHARM Beauty Subscription Box Unboxing for August 2018 – Wander Beauty Baggage Claim Gold Eye Masks
Wander Baggage Claim Gold Eye Masks ($13.00). It’s no secret I love an eye mask. These ones from Wander Beauty look really cool and, even better, they work really well! Keep them in the fridge to really feel refreshed!
A full size purchase of this product nets you 6 masks and in this months Boxycharm you’ll receive 3 masks.
Bang Beauty Chocolate Eyeliner ($22.00). This is a triple-threat eyeliner, eyeshadow base or (for some) a brow product.
Unfortunately mine arrived with the cap unscrewed so it was extremely dried up. I tried to remove the top layer and even mix it up a bit but it was still dry (as you can see from the swatches below). It’s a shame, because this is always the type of product I can get behind!
Everyone will receive this product.

BOXYCHARM Beauty Subscription Box Unboxing for August 2018 – NCLA So Rich Cuticle Oil in Lollipop Lollipop
NCLA So Rich Cuticle Oil in Lollipop Lollipop ($18.00). I LOVE the cuticle oils from NCLA so you know I’m loving this one too. They’re fabulous at reviving dry cuticles and after you apply it soaks in quickly while massaging (for an oil).
Everyone will receive this product.

final thoughts
Was the box worth the money? YES-ish.Â
Yep, even though the Laura Lee palette was beyond words terrible and the Bang Beauty Eyeliner was dried out I’m still giving it a yes. Why? Because I’ve been dying to try out LLLA and I’d have rather spent $21 on a subscription box FULL of beauty products than $19 on just that one palette that sucked. Even with those two items excluded the value is still there for me (but it’s cutting it kind of close this month).
All of the products listed above are FULL SIZE (except where noted).
The retail value of the entire August 2018 Boxycharm? $114.00! This was a lower value than last monthâs box but IMO still very much worth the $21 investment.

This month was my first ever to receive my first Boxy Charm and I loved everything!!! I was really wanting the boss babe palette but I ended up getting Party Animal. Was not impressed with the pigments in hungover and the way it left a pink hue stain on me.
I think everyone got Party Animal. I imagine it was a way of relieving some stock because in general most people would want the Boss Babe. Another blogger told me she had issues with Hungover fading out almost immediately and pigment would remove like it did with me on Karaoke. Just overall a bad palette. Based off of it’s initial release and reviews I expected more. =(
The top of my eyeliner was unscrewed too. How can you judge a defective product – that was a big mistake on Big Bang’s side. And the palette? So not something I even wanted to try.

I keep hearing that about the eyeliner. What a shame! It’s a color I’d have used constantly too =( That palette. Girl, I can’t even about that palette I’m still mad at it lmao
Duraline from Inglot will bring that eyeliner back to life in seconds. Go hit up Inglot! It’s around $12 or so.
Thank you for the tip! I’ll check it out!
