Dior has long been one of my favorite luxury makeup brands and their eyeshadows have always topped the list of palettes I’ll always need in my life.
Because I get a lot coming in there hasn’t been a lot from Dior that’s caught my eye… generally if I’m plunking down my own money for makeup it’s going to be something that I’ll be able to wear daily. Therefore if it’s not neutral you can count me out.
That all changed with the release of the Dior Backstage Eye Palettes in Warm and Cool.
what is it
The Dior 001 Warm Neutrals Backstage Eye Palette is filled with brown neutrals with warm undertones in both shimmer and matte finishes.
Eight eye shadow shades are included in Gold Highlighter, Ombre Sculpting Powder, Shimmer Beige, Shimmer Copper, Shimmer Brown, Matte Nude, Matte Ochre and Matte Charcoal. There is also a pan of cream eye primer.
review
You guys I don’t get why everyone is hating on the Dior 001 Warm Neutrals Backstage Eye Palette. I think it’s wonderful. I’ve done several looks with it (one you’ll see below with my crappy cell phone pics lol the other I showed on Instagram stories) and every shade performed well in terms of pigment, blending and staying power.
The packaging is something else that I love but that I’ve heard a lot of complaints about. It has no mirror, which can suck, but I’m loving that I can look down and know exactly what shades are in this palette. TBH if you’re pressed and need to do a quick lip touch-up you can flip it over and use the label on the back… it reflects enough. I may or may not have done that. =\
The ONLY thing I don’t like about the Dior Backstage Eye Palette? That dang cream primer that they put in the upper lefthand corner. I’ve never been a fan of cream and power products living in the same palette and this is no exception.
The primer itself works well but even when the lid is shut and I’m not using the palette flecks of shadow powder somehow find their way into the primer. It’s not a pretty look.
Instead of that primer I’d have loved to have seen a beautiful transition shade. Something matte and a shade darker than the Matte Nude shade already included in the palette. If they’d have put in my perfect transition shade this would have been my favorite, go-to palette of life.
That being said, yes I love Dior 001 Warm Neutrals Backstage Eye Palette and YES you need it. And yes I’m likely picking up the Cool Neutrals because I can’t resist these things.
