Do you think makeup deserves a second chance? A few months ago I tested out the Too Faced Peach Perfect Comfort Matte Foundation ($36.00) while I was in the midst of a skincare regime that was changing my skin a bit. I’m still very oily but now my cheeks have some dryness to them… some texture that seems to be easily accentuated if I don’t properly get at it. Since previously trying the Too Faced foundation I’ve learned what to do to get my skin prepped to wear and now I’m ready to give this product another chance.
what is it
The Too Faced Peach Perfect Comfort Matte Foundation is described as being an “innovative comfort matte foundation that creates a smooth, flawless, comfortable finish that is never cakey or mask-like. Infused with refreshing peach and sweet fig cream, this oil-controlling formula delivers up to 14 hours of photo-friendly wear.” It is listed as being suitable for all skin types and is formulated without parabens, sulfates and phthalates.
Previously I tried several ways to apply and wear the Too Faced Peach Perfect Comfort Matte Foundation. It didn’t go well. I had assumed that since I love the Mattifying Setting Powder and the Cooling Matte Perfecting Primer from the same line (to the point of holy grail status) that the putting the foundation in my life would be a no-brainer. Initially I was wrong. No matter how I applied the foundation or what I used for a primer & powder it just looked terrible on me, particularly in my cheek areas. I promptly returned it.
Fast forward to now where Too Faced has sent me an entire box of this foundation. I wasn’t sure what to do, because I’d already decided I didn’t like it. It’d been awhile so I figured the least I could do for the brand was give it another try. I’m really glad I did! While the coverage isn’t full (where I usually like it) the foundation formula has never been touted as being anything more than medium coverage. I’ve been looking for something a little lighter for the Summer months and this is definitely that ticket. It’s more of a satin matte finish that pairs well with the setting powder and primer that I already love from the Peach Perfect line. It gives that wonderful illusion of “flawless”. I use several other products to provide more coverage to the areas that need it and I think it’s looking a lot more natural than what I usually go for.
On me this foundation wore well all day when paired up with the coordinating primer and setting powder mentioned above. As always I do get a little bit of shine breakthrough but it wasn’t anything I even felt like I needed to touch up and it only appeared in my t-zone. If I wiped at my face (like if I blew my nose) the foundation did come off but it didn’t transfer if I accidentally touched my face with my fingers. I was impressed enough to continue to wear this foundation daily since it arrived and I’m excited to see if it’ll do as well during the sweaty, Summer months.
The Too Faced Peach Perfect Comfort Matte Foundation applies best by using a beautyblender (or makeup sponge of your choice). I tried some of my favorite brushes to try and amp up the coverage but those just made the foundation apply unevenly and the end result wasn’t as smooth as with the beautyblender.
PS – if you’re curious about what prepped my skin to look amazing for this foundation it’s the Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial. It’s pricey but OMG it makes a WORLD of difference!
All 20 shades of the Too Faced Peach Perfect Comfort Matte Foundation are swatched below on bare skin (no primers). Please keep in mind that every shade of this foundation leans warm (peachy), even those that have a neutral or cool sounding description (like beige or rosy). I also suggest color matching for this in person. I’m in the shade Porcelain which I NEVER would have thought would have been my match. It’s listed as “fair with rosy undertones” and is the third lightest shade available.
