Even if you’re not someone who loves an all matte eyeshadow look (I’m with ya!) you do need to incorporate matte shades into almost every look you create. IMO it makes the look more finished. Shimmers and mattes need each other, but not every eyeshadow palette is ideal with the perfect balance of said mattes and shimmers. With the Milani Most Loved Mattes Eyeshadow Palette ($20.00) you’ll get just about every matte shade you’d ever need to finish off your eye look.
what is it
The Milani Most Loved Mattes Eyeshadow Palette has 12 matte eyeshadow shades that are said to “deliver maximum pigment payoff”.
Daytime: Fancy Vanilla, My Daily Latte, Toast of the Town, Chocolate is Life; Anytime: Come Up Roses, Bust a Mauve, No Plum Intended, Don’t Raisin Your Voice; Playtime: You’re a Peach, Catch a Tan, Hiking in Sedona, Umber the Sun.
The shade range varies from neutral to deep with easy to pair colors that you can wear alone, blended together or layered. You can follow along to three of the curated looks or mix and match for “endless color combinations”.
I think that the Milani Most Loved Mattes Eyeshadow Palette is a great way to get all of your must-have, basic matte shades in one place for a good price. I love the layout and look of the palette. I’m big on “no wasted space” and this Milani palette has a good separation of shades while still keeping everything looking neat and organized. The palette is a sturdy black plastic accented with gold. Inside we have a full mirror on the lid (yasssss!) and the 12 eyeshadow shades sit opposite that.
IMO the range of shadows is fantastic and I love that they’re lined up in quads based off of tone. It makes creating eye looks easy but everything is so complementary you’ll want to play outside the box a little bit. The selection leans warm but there are some cool toned shades in there making the palette nice for all.
The shadows themselves are a little on the powdery side when you dip your brush in but have good color payoff and blend nicely into each other. I did two eye looks with this palette (one is shown below) and each lasted all day long when worn over an eyeshadow primer. In fact, that photo below was taken after an 8 hour day of Easter travel!
Based on my experience with the mattes I’d love to get my hands on Bold Obsessions to pair them up! I don’t think I’d ever get bored of creating eye looks with both of those palettes in my hands!
The Milani Most Loved Mattes Eyeshadow Palette is swatched below dry and on bare skin (no primers):
Urban Decay Primer Potion // Milani Most Loved Mattes Eyeshadow Palette: My Daily Latte (all over from lash to brow), Toast of the Town (crease transition & blended up), Don’t Raisin Your Voice (outer half of lid), Bust a Mauve (inner half of lid), Fancy Vanilla (highlight & blend out crease color), Milani Bare Necessities Everyday Eyeshadow Palette: Base (to highlight inner corners), Crease (to smudge under lower lash line), Clinique Black Honey Quickliner, L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara.
The Milani Most Loved Mattes Eyeshadow Palette retails for $20.00 on the Milani website. I found mine for $14.99 at my local Walmart however online it doesn’t appear to be available there. It’s likely going to be a crapshoot for you to find this palette locally but it’s worth stopping in if you have the chance. If you’re not down for the hunt the website is obviously your best option.
