This January the COVERGIRL Vitalist Healthy Glow makeup collection launched. This line includes “transformational products for all of your glow power needs”. It’s touted as being designed with that “glow-with-the-flow makeup mentality”.
Look Lock Up Setting Mist ($9.99). This is a “microfine mist for a weightless, barely there feel” used to “prevent smudging or settling into fine lines”.
This setting mist shoots out rather strongly if you’re holding it too close to your face so you’ll want to make sure to hold it at an arms length away to get the fine mist that it has at the front of the spray. There is a major fragrance with this product. I find that it smells lovely, particularly when it dries down, but some prefer fragrance free so it’s worth mentioning that this does have a scent and it’s on the strong side.
Performance wise for me this setting mist didn’t do much, but keep in mind I’m very oily and every setting spray I’ve tried hasn’t done much for me overtop of my makeup. Urban Decay De-slick is my favorite but I wear it as a prepping product rather than to set. That being said the COVERGIRL Look Lock Up didn’t cause my makeup to smudge or run so if you have a different skin type it may do wonders for you (let me know in the comments!).
Vitalist Go Glow Luminizing Lotion ($8.99). This lightweight lotion is “infused with Vitamins E, B3 and B5” and “infused with light-reflecting pigments to give your skin a naturally hydrated luminous glow”. It is available in two shades – light and bronze.
When I used this lotion it really only seemed like it deposited fine micro-glitter all over my face vs. making me glow or look luminous. Overall it didn’t look like anything on my skin whether I tried it alone or mixed with foundation. Maybe that’s because I’m oily and I “glow” weather or not I’m trying to lol! Again, if you have normal, dry or combo skin and you’ve tried this plmk in the comments what you think!
Vitalist Healthy Concealer ($8.99). This is said to be a “soft-brush full-coverage concealer pen that glides on smoothly and improves skin’s texture”. It contains a “vitamin-infused formula which brightens your complexion for a fresh, healthy look”. Six shades are available in Fair, Light, Light/Medium, Medium, Medium/Deep and Deep. The two shades I have swatched below are Light/Medium and Deep. The deep color, IMO, if not very deep and there isn’t much of a shade selection here. This is disappointing because COVERGIRL does offer the Queen Collection that has a wide range of deep shades. We know they can do it, so why not do it across the board with every product release?
With all of the talk of me being oily this is going to shock you, but my under-eye area is dry. I expected the Vitalist Healthy Concealer to be light and hydrating because of the way it was packaged (hoping for that Charlotte Tilbury Retoucher dupe!) but I found it to be on the thick side, a little drying and not the easiest to blend out.
It’s important to note that on the concealer tube you will not find the shade marked. If you’re not good at remembering what shade you had then be sure to make a note of it on your phone notes or save the packaging.
Vitalist Elixir Lip Oil ($6.99). This product is touted as being a “transparent oil that delivers comfortable, non-sticky, non-tacky shine. Formulated with a blend of nourishing oils with a lightweight texture that instantly melts into your lips”. The formula will “deeply hydrate, condition and soften your lips with every wear while the tint enhances the beauty of your natural lip color”. Six shades are currently available and I have two swatched below.
I think these lip oils feel amazing on the lips but not a whole lot of product comes out. I don’t have huge lips but I found myself dipping the wand back into the tube 3-4 times to get them coated. Melon Granita is a light pink shade that looks clear on my while Cherry Crush gives me that slight cherry popsicle tint. Both make my lips look refreshed and hydrated, so I do like these!
Vitalist Healthy Glow Highlighter ($8.99). This product is marketed as a “blendable cream formula that delivers a next-level glow”. It’s available in 6 shades to apply along the highpoints of your face (cheekbones, brow bone, nose and cupids bow).
I was sent two of the shades in 4 & 5. Both of these weren’t the right shades for me to use as a highlight on any “high-points” but because the colors were so gorgeous I tested them out on my eyelids instead. Because I like to bend the rules.
First off, as highlights, I wasn’t a fan. These two shades were definitely not meant for my skin tone but I tried them out anyway. They were easy to apply and blend out but they didn’t glow as much as they did shimmer, and not in a good way. On the lid I’m obsessed. Like they’re STAND OUT PRODUCTS for me as cream shadows. Both shades 4 & 5 didn’t crease on my oily lids all day long even without an eyeshadow primer underneath. They looked lovely alone but were really gorgeous when used as bases for coordinating eyeshadow shades. My favorite combo (that you’ll see below) is MAC Tempting Eyeshadow overtop of COVERGIRL Vitalist Healthy Glow Highlighter in shade 5.
The swatches below are done dry and on bare skin (no primers):

In this eye look I’m wearing: COVERGIRL Vitalist Healthy Glow Highlighter in shade 5 (all over lid and through the crease), MAC Tempting Eye Shadow (overtop of anywhere the COVERGIRL shade is and also smudged under the lower lash line), MAC Sandstone Eye Shadow (to blend out Tempting), MAC Beaded Eye Shadow (inner corners of the eye), MAC Elemental Eyeshadow (to blend Sandstone seamlessly into brow bone highlight), Benefit High Brow (under the brow and blended), Tom Ford Metallic Mink Eye Kohl, IT Cosmetics Superhero Mascara.
(All of the MAC Eye Shadows mentioned here can be found in the MAC In the Flesh Eye Shadow x 15 Palette.)
Side note, even though MAC Tempting Eyeshadow isn’t considered “affordable” or “drugstore”, that shadow over-top of COVERGIRL is my new favorite thing. These two products pair up like they were made for each other! I have MAC Tempting in my In the Flesh Palette ($65) but you can also buy it alone in the pot ($16) or as a single pan ($6) which is comparable to drugstore nowadays anyway.
The COVERGIRL Vitalist Healthy Glow Collection is available now at ULTA Beauty as well as your local drugstore locations.
