Out with the old, in with the nude! The NARS Spring It On Makeup Collection is arriving soon and is just what we need to pull us out of the winter blues. This relatively small line-up of product really has me ready for Spring 2018 weather… but then so does this terrible Winter weather! I’m loving the different hues of pinks that we generally expect from Spring mixed with deeper rose tones to pair with the more in your face eye colors.
Velvet Shadow Stick ($29.00). Two shades are available in Galice (soft pewter) and Frioul (shimmering light peacock). For me Velvet Shadow Sticks are historically top performers. They make fabulous bases and even with my oily lids I don’t have to use a primer underneath (though I sometimes do if I’m paranoid about a look lasting all day). They apply easily directly on the lid and blend into shadows well also.
While only Frioul is limited edition I do recommend picking up both of the NARS Velvet Shadow Sticks. Galice is STUNNING as a base for so many shadow shades, such as this one that I posted on my Instagram.
Lip Cover ($28.00). Four shades are available in Embrasse Moi (shimmering peach pink), Under Arrest (peach beige), Summer Fire (pink mauve) and Hell Gate (black cherry). With this formula (unless otherwise indicated) I’ve noticed they’re not transfer-proof but they are long-wearing so just drinking and light eating won’t remove it. If you’re going in on a sandwich you’ll have to touch up a bit but not fully reapply. All four of these shades are limited edition.
I didn’t find Embrasse Moi to be very flattering on me until I played around with it. Upon first application it was slightly patchy with maybe a medium opacity. I wasn’t digging it. So I wore it again, this time overtop of a mauve-toned lipstick that had faded. Which sounds bizarre but I grabbed it to try and touch up a deep lip that I wanted to be more nude for evening lol I used my finger to smudge it over the color and it was truly my perfect beige-nude shade. It also looks a bit metallic this way, which is bizarre because it was over a matte lip and I’m pretty sure Embrasse Moi is not meant to be metallic, just “shimmering”.
Under Arrest was full coverage but unfortunately not flattering on me at all. It pulled really orange. Regardless of the shade not working out for me I was pleased in it’s performance and if you can make the color work it’d definitely be worth it.
Summer Fire was that perfect MLBB shade. Because of that I had a hard time telling if it went on fully opaque but it looked that way. The formula felt thinner than the others but still seemed to wear just as well. Of the four it’s the one I’ll get the most use out of.
Hell Gate is stunning. The PERFECT winter lip shade and completely opaque. My favorite of the four (Summer Fire was a really close second)!
Liquid Blush ($30.00). One liquid blush is released in the shade Hot Tin Roof (shimmering brick red). This blush is super pigmented… so much so that I need very little for both cheeks. I had no problems applying with a finger and blending it out with a soft kabuki brush. The shade wore all day for me without fading. Hot Tin Roof is limited edition.
Highlighting Blush ($30.00). One shade of highlighting blush is released in Free Soul (light shimmering pink). Generally I’m drawn to a more champagne type of highlight but this one looked so amazing on the skin that I just may be completely converted! It’s more of a demure, subtle glow that even though it’s “shimmering” didn’t look glittery. I loved the effect!
