Year after year I’m what’s considered a “aw, it looks like she tried” slacker person when it comes to creating beautiful Christmas cards. Around October I start to plan out where I want to take Christmas photos, what I want everyone to wear, how I’m going to send them right after Thanksgiving… and every year I end up throwing some random pic of my kids on a photo card and getting one-hour developing. Because I’m always that late.
Several friends of mine always have other level holiday cards and invites and TBH every year I’m jealous. After last Christmas I asked where they had their cards done and every single one of them said Minted.com. I headed over to the site and was impressed with the options for cards (as well as so many other items!) so I ordered my daughter Lydia’s communion cards through them. They were stunning and my entire family started to ask me where I had my cards done.
When this Christmas rolled around and I got the opportunity to work with Minted on this years holiday cards I got right to plotting and executing the perfect ones. There’s something to be said about everyone wanting to be on your level of card making. It was very much like someone telling you “your eyebrows are perfect today”. I mean… I die.
For this year I went with Christmas Wonders of Love Foil Pressed Holiday Cards. The foil-pressed cards are made with real foil and shine like crazy in the light. There are 6 foil options to choose from and 5 silhouettes. I went with rose gold (because, obviously) on the regular flat rectangle silhouette. If you’d like the card to be folded you can choose that option and either have wording inside or leave it blank. You’ll have 6 paper options but I went with the Smooth Signature because it was the new one and I wanted to check it out (LOVE). This design also comes with free address printing (save my life, why don’t you). Guess what else comes free? UNLIMITED proofs with your own dedicated designer. For free.
Personalizing is easy and the next step walks you through designing the front and back of the card as well as the envelopes to your liking. After you’re done designing you’ll head to the address area where you can input all of the addresses you need for printing. The best part about this is that Minted will save everything you input so that next year (or for other events) you can just glide right through it. This was such a time saver for me this Christmas. I had a lot of the addresses we needed already in the system due to the fact that I’d ordered Lydia’s Communion Invites through Minted earlier in the year. If Minted is something you’d want to do in the future it’s a good idea to set up the addresses now so that you’re ready!
As I was perusing through more of the options on the site I noticed that they do personalized ornaments, which I was not aware of. I thought they’d make an excellent gift tag of sorts on this years family holiday gifts. A little something extra from the kids!
I ordered the Snow Day Foil Pressed Ornament Cards. For this there are 5 color options, 3 shape options and 4 paper options. You’re also able to get one free proof per item ordered. I broke my rose gold theme and got the gold foil for the ornaments. I did this for several reasons. First, I wanted to see the difference between the gold and rose gold. With some companies it’s so minor but with Minted the rose gold definitely stands out. The gold is gorgeous too, but I like that you can actually tell that there is a difference. It sounds weird but a lot of times when those are both options there is very little difference to the two. Second, I thought that gold would match more decor. Very few people will have rose gold tree decor but most people do have a theme. Because I obviously want to see these ornaments on trees for many years to come (I’m looking at you, Grandma).
Technically since the ornaments are cards they come with their own envelopes as well as a beautiful cloth ribbon so that the ornament can hang on a loved ones tree (or really anywhere you can drape it…. I currently have one on my buffet table with the Christmas cards we’ve received this year). I opted not to send them as cards because the post office will charge extra for that (which Minted warns you of and I LOVE THAT because I never would have known until it was too late!).
I’m obsessed with our holiday cards from Minted. OB-SESSED. I’ve liked the cards that we do every year (my kids are on them, so…. yeah) but it doesn’t even hold a candle to how impressed I am with what Minted sent over. They’ve got more of a boutique pricing than a local one-hour printing place but there is generally ALWAYS (and I do mean always) a coupon code out there to help with that, and I’m always willing to pay extra for addressing. Especially when it’s done so eloquently. And, if I’m being honest… and also maybe a little sad… this years Christmas cards are nicer than my wedding invitations were 13 years ago. If Minted would have been around then, I totally would have used them. I will use them for everything from here on out.
