The year isn’t over but can we please just give an award to NARS for best packaging? The upcoming NARS x Man Ray Collection for Holiday 2017 is all levels of gorgeous, stunning, out-of-this-freaking-world… it’s just all the good adjectives. Over the next few days I’ll also be sharing the cheek products, eye products and gifting collection, but for today we’re focusing on the Photogloss Lip Lacquer ($26.oo).
what is it
The NARS Photogloss Lip Lacquer is a glistening, high-shine and saturated color. Four shades are available in this limited edition formula as part of the NARS x Man Ray Collection for Holiday 2017.
Zambeze
(red hazelnut)
Muse
(golden shimmer)
Off Limits
(shimmering fuchsia)
Kiki
(burgundy)
review
I found all four of the NARS Photogloss Lip Lacquer to be extremely different in terms of performance. Of the four Zambeze performed the best because it applied smoothy, evenly and was completely opaque in one coat. Second and third place will be based off of your preference. For me, Muse would be second because while it’s only got a medium level of opacity it makes for a nice lipstick topper and applied evenly. In third is Off Limits which was even to apply and was nearly opaque in one coat, it’s just not my personal preference for a shade.
Coming in last is Kiki. While the color is stunning it wasn’t evenly opaque when applied. Adding another layer just accentuated this. The best way I found to apply was to put on one coat and press my lips together – though I could still tell it was slightly uneven in tone. These wore like a regular gloss would – a few hours unless I’m eating or drinking in which case they come off.
With how fabulous the NARS Powermatte Lip Pigments are I would recommend picking up a few of those if you’re looking for darker shades and grabbing the Photogloss Lip Lacquer in Muse if you’re looking for something special from this limited edition collaboration.

If I liked glosses, Zambeze was the one that I would choose for sure! It’s one of the prettiest glosses that I’ve seen xx
