Possibly the only person more excited than me for the PÜR Cosmetics My Little Pony: The Movie Collection is my daughter, who did the unboxing live on my Instagram stories (it’s gone now, you should follow me there so you don’t miss out!).
what is it
In partnership with Lionsgate and Hallie Barber the PÜR Cosmetics My Little Pony: The Movie Collection features a 16-shade Eyeshadow Palette ($29.00), six Glitter Lip Gloss Toppers ($16.00), a three-piece All-in-One Glow Stick Kit ($22.00) and a 6-Piece Brush Set ($49.00). These products are listed as being gluten free, cruelty-free, paraben-free and pony approved!
eye shadow palette
The My Little Pony Eye Shadow Palette ($29.00) houses 16 matte and shimmer eyeshadow shades in a variety of bold rainbow to neutral colors. The packaging is white (which is beautiful, but does muss up easily) with golden holo lettering.
Inside you’ll find a generous mirror at the top half and the shadows at the bottom half, covered by a clear pony plastic overlay.
KINDNESS (yellow with small pearl), FLUTTERSHY (soft pink with shimmer), GENEROSITY (matte mauve), RARITY (matte white), APPLEJACK (orange with shimmer), HONESTY (brown), LAUGHTER (sparkly mauve pink), PINKIE PIE (hot pink matte), TWILIGHT SPARKLE (pinky purple shimmer), MAGIC (bright purple), RAINBOW DASH (royal blue with shimmer), LOYALTY (dark green with shimmer), TEMPEST SHADOW (matte bright red), SONGBIRD SERENADE (dark purple with shimmer), STORM KING (silver with shimmer), and PRINCESS SKYSTAR (mint duochrome).
I found the matte shades to be on the dry side with quite a bit of fall-out however they were buildable and blended nicely. Your best bet to apply would be to pack them on with a firm shadow brush by using a pressing/pushing motion. Blend lightly with color on your brush. To amp up the shimmers, of course, use them wet, but they also look lovely dry.
Given the price point the Eyeshadow Palette is worth picking up if you want a good selection of neutral and colorful shades (particularly if you’re looking for a really in your face neon pink and true red) or if you’re a My Little Pony fan.
glitter lip gloss topper
I was shocked to find out how much I loved the My Little Pony Glitter Lip Gloss Toppers ($16.00 each). Six shades are available in Rainbow Dash (iridescent blue), Fluttershy (pinky orange), Pinkie Pie (neon pink), Twilight Sparkle (lavender), Rarity (clear iridescent) and Applejack (orangey brown).
Even though these toppers look glittery they’re not overkill on the lips. I love to wear them alone and also over lipsticks. I personally don’t find them to be sticky or goopy feeling. Makeup-wise if you get anything splurge on one or two of these shades.
glow stick kit
The My Little Pony Magic of Friendship 3-Piece All-in-One Glow Stick Kit for Face, Eye and Lips ($22.00). This set includes 3 shades in Blissful (holographic iridescent blue with a pink shift), Joyful (iridescent white with a blue lavender shift) and Cheerful(iridescent pink with a gold shift).
While these are beautiful to see swatched, other than to add some random glitter you’re not going to get much use out of these. I didn’t feel like they applied nicely over my makeup and felt they were hard to blend. They also felt a little weird on my lips. The best way I found to wear them is to rub some on your finger and dab it where you need it – for me, the only place I liked it was the center of the lid and to me that’s not worth the money.
The My Little Pony Mane 6 Brush Set w/ Pouch ($49.00) is an actual unicorn, MLP, oily slick, pink lovers dream. The set includes a Powder Brush, Blush Brush, Concealer Brush, Eye Shadow Brush, Crease Brush and an Eyeliner Brush all in a matching clutch. I’m clearly obsessed with this. The set is pricey but the the brushes are soft and do a fabulous job.
First purchase needs to be the brush set. Next go for a gloss or two and then the eyeshadow palette. The palette isn’t perfect but it’s an excellent value if you’re looking for a good mix of brights and neutrals. My favorites of the glosses are Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie – but that’s just personal preference.
