Wouldn’t it be nice to have a brow product that literally guided you through everything so that achieving flawless, natural looking eyebrows could be easy and also idiot-proof? Benefit Foolproof Brow Powder ($24.00 // Sephora) is the latest product launch from Benefit Cosmetics that promises to do just that.
what is it
Benefit Foolproof Brow Powder is a product meant to give you natural-looking fullness to your eyebrows. Three shades are available that boast a “velvety-smooth, 12 hour formula that adheres to hair and skin”. Each compact comes with two lighter-to-darker shade duos to mimic the gradual look of natural eyebrows in a shape that gives a visual guided application.
01 – light platinum to light blonde (cool)
03 – medium golden blonde to medium brown (warm)
05 – deep dark brown to black (cool)
The packaging is a silver metal-looking (but made of plastic) case that reminds me of a small jewelry box in the way it’s designed. It snaps closed securely making it excellent for travel. Each powder also comes with a small “tips & tricks” booklet.
review
I was impressed with how pigmented the Benefit Foolproof Brow Powder applied. Upon swatching I was nervous that my usual shade (which is 03) would be too light. Once I put it on I found that it was perfect, even the lightest side. When using a more “Brooke-friendly applicator” (see more on that below) I applied them easily and evenly, without any skipping. Make sure to use the other end of the applicator, I didn’t notice right away but you can pull off the cap for a small spoolie brush. YAY! On me the product lasted all day without fading or smudging.
These duos are awesome because they’ll help you to create a natural gradient to your eyebrows. When I fill them in, because I have more hair at the inner part (even after microblading it’s still not even) if I fill them in with a pencil it can look uneven in color, so I have to work at it. With a dual-color powder product like this it makes it a lot easier to get a more uniform brow color. For my quick days, this will be my first choice.
I’m not a fan of the included applicator because it’s simply too big for my sad brows. Even though I have had microblading done my brows are medium sized (at best)… so even if I use the tip of the included applicator it still seems like I’m getting product everywhere. When I applied the second time I used a MAC 230SE brush (it was LE but it’s basically a detail brush that you might use to smudge shadow under your lower lash line) to get a more concentrated and precise application. I do think the applicator would be good for on the go if you just need to quickly touch up an area, but if you don’t have thick brows you’ll want to be very careful.

I love that the pans are shaped like brows 🙂

I’ve never tried a gradient on my brows – I just fill them all the way with the one shade. I should try changing that for a more natural look.

These look like great brow enhancers.

Benefit is really working on brows lately. This seems like another great product from them. I think the darkest one would be best for me.

I pretty much never use the applicators that come with brow products!
I think if they’d have been slimmer they’d have worked for me. Or if my brows were thicker. I WISH they were thicker lol
Benefit has always been my go-to for brows, I need to try these new kits.

I think the deep side of the deep might work for me. I need deep cool tones.

They look like nice little compacts, and I like the fact that they give you two shades. That said, I don’t know which would suit me. I will check ’em out in store though

Maybe 03? In store would definitely be best with your hair color. The products are nice for quick and natural!
I’m happy you enjoyed the product. I normally use a pencil for my brows, but I would be open to trying a powder.

This one had better pigment than most of the powders I’ve seen. I was impressed! I wasn’t a fan of the Brow-zings so I’m excited they have an awesome powder now!
