I like to save money as much as the next person, but when it comes to holy grail beauty items I’m as high maintenance as they come. This week for Makeup Wars we’re talking about our top 3 beauty items to splurge on. We’re supposed to be picking our top item in three categories – one makeup, one skincare and one haircare.
For skincare and haircare my numero uno picks came easy. With makeup it’s a little more difficult because a lot of what I love is pricey. Because of this I wanted to pick something that I’ve used for years and years (and YEARS) that I haven’t talked about in awhile – Dior Addict Lip Glow.
Dior Addict Lip Glow Color Reviving Balm ($33.00 // Nordstrom) is a lip balm used to enhance the natural color of your lips. The shade is universal and will react to your lips natural chemistry for a custom color. Rarely do I run out of a product, particularly a lip product… but Dior Addict Lip Glow I run out of several times a year (I just had to repurchase which is why I have my empty and also a new one in this post!). Originally there was only one shade, 001 Sheer Pink, which was my fave for years. When 004 Coral released I actually learned what love was. I’ll never look back. Sure, it’s got some drugstore/more affordable competition. Some may say it’s got some dupes. Those dupes come close and will work in a pinch, but they’re just not IT for me.
GLAMGLOW SUPERMUD Clearing Treatment ($69.00 // Sephora) is designed to “visibly clear the complexion” for normal, oily or combo skin. This product works better than anything for clearing my breakouts. Even better than a prescription gel. I did a whole post on how this and the DREAMDUO saved my face after vacation. If I could only use ONE luxury skincare product for the rest of my life SUPERMUD would be it. (It can be used as a mask all over the face or as a spot treatment).
Peter Coppola Infusion Anti-Frizz Cream ($30.00 // Amazon) is an “ultra-light formula for long-lasting, frizz-free hair”. I loved it for awhile but I knew this was true love when I took it to Las Vegas in 112 degree sweat bog dead heat and my hair still looked good all day. It’s $30 normally but currently on Amazon it’s only $14.66!

Fabulous picks! I love that GlamGlow. I’m a sheet mask kind of girl but I can’t deny how luscious their masks are on me.

I love the sheet masks for moisturizing after! If I don’t use Glamglow DreamDuo or Fresh Rose Mask I use the Lotus Sheet Mask from Sephora (perfect for when I just want to lay and be lazy haha).

I hit pan on my UD Naked2 Basics eye palette; how often does that happen – and I keep buying eye palettes! Still love this UD one for the awesome everyday neutral look! I’d also have to add mascara and liquid foundation to the makeup list. Skincare would be Algenist Vit C serum. I tried at least 6 other vit C products trying to find a less expensive alternative for my oily skin. Since I don’t splurge on any high-end product hair care (none have really made a difference).

LMAO! I always get so proud when I hit pan on something that isn’t a face powder or something I always use daily. You’re right, though… SO RARE!
