Obsessed with a nude, matte lip? Charlotte Tilbury Charlotte Darling Hollywood Lips Liquid Matte Lipstick ($34.00 // Charlotte Tilbury) has just launched and, sure, it’s got some gorgeous vampy shades… but those nudes, though!
what is it
The Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Lips Liquid Matte Lipstick is a long-lasting liquid matte lip formula designed to give you that gorgeous “Hollywood Lip”. It’s formulated with sea lavender, hyaluronic acid and a collagen-boosting active for an anti-aging, soothing effect. Beeswax is included to protect your lips moisture and to give baby-soft lips while cyclopentasiloxane provides the long-lasting finish.
10 shades are available in Dangerous Liaison (warm rusty rose), Best Actress (soft, creamy nude brown), Charlotte Darling (creamy pink beige nude), Show Girl (natural rose berry), Rising Star (warm pink), Pin-Up Pink (shimmery coral pink), Platinum Blonde (light peachy nude), Screen Siren (classic ruby red), Dolly Bird (cool pale pink) and Too Bad I’m Bad (warm rosy pink).
Charlotte Darling is a creamy pink beige nude (and also considered to be Charlotte’s personal shade).
This lipstick has a mousse-y texture that reminds me quite a bit of the Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colour. It applied evenly and opaque in one coat with a TON of pigment. The formula was really comfortable and was easy to apply without the help of a liner. My lips really do look like they’re plumper when I wear it (which normally I need a liner and a gloss to help with)!
The formula wore comfortably throughout the day but did dry down more on the lips after drinking and eating. The formula is not transfer-proof but only lightly marked up my glass. Though there was some color transfer the shade never completely disappeared from my lips (win!) until much later in the day. Full wear time on Charlotte Darling for me was 6-8 hours even with eating a drinking (it just depended on what I was having).
A lot of the ease of application is due to the fabulous curved, sponge-tipped applicator. I LOVE this. ALL lip products that are applied with a wand should have this exact applicator. Charlotte chose it because it mimics the natural contours of the lip. It holds on to a lot of product so make sure to place the product on the lips (I dot around the color to part it out) and then spread.
One thing I did notice is that you need to be especially considerate of exfoliating and hydrating your lips before using this matte formula as it will settle into your lip lines and accentuate any dryness. I keep my lips hydrated well (I am a lip balm junkie) and you’ll see in the lip swatch below my crazy insane DSLR camera picked up allllll the lines. IRL it’s much less noticeable.
Charlotte Darling is swatched below using one coat and no primers.
I do plan on picking up a couple more of these so stay tuned for more swatches!
The Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Lips Liquid Matte Lipstick is currently available on the Charlotte Tilbury website. Other store launches are slated for August 23, 2017 so at that time be sure to check Nordstrom and Bergdorf Goodman for all 10 shades!
