FINALLY one of my favorite brands is catering to those of us who have oily, acne-prone skin! IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Breakout Full-Coverage Treatment Concealer ($28.00 // ULTA Beauty) is the latest in “blemish-banishing” beauty and I couldn’t be more excited to test it out.
what is it
IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Breakout is said to be a full-coverage treatment concealer that “makes your blemishes disappear”. It’s a color-infused version of a drying lotion that can also act as a concealer. So, while you hide the acne you can also treat it. The formula soothes acne-prone skin with tee tree, sulfur, witch hazel and a gentle AHA/BHA complex. It can be worn alone or under your makeup without creasing or cracking. It also contains anti-aging, skin-loving peptides.
Only seven shades are available (all are swatched below) and seem to cater more toward the lighter end of the skin tone spectrum. The shades are Fair, Light, Medium, Medium Tan, Tan, Rich, Deep.
review
For me, when I use these types of acne treatments (drying lotion) I can only use them at night because they’re always that terrible bright pink color. Even if I wait for it to fully dry I end up getting transfer on my pillow. I absolutely love that IT Cosmetics now has their own version that can also be worn to conceal.
As to the claims of full-coverage I don’t agree with that. I need a MASSIVE amount of coverage when I tackle breakouts. I know my breakouts are the worst in the world, but they’re pretty terrible. Because of this I’d put the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Breakout at a medium coverage. I really wasn’t able to build it up much and still have it look good, but I was able to apply the product as a treatment before I followed up with a full-coverage foundation and powder routine.
The day I got Bye Bye Breakout I put it on my skin. I was headed to my daughters cheer practice (where I am the parent helper) and wanted to see how it would stand up to the heat and a light workout. For this first run I applied IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Breakout, IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Lines Foundation and IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Breakout Powder. All of which are new and none of which are my regular routine. Throughout the evening it all held up well and the concealer did stay in place. However since I require the fullest of coverages I’ve been wearing IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Breakout Concealer as a treatment, then applying my Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation and THEN applying my HG IT Cosmetics Celebration Foundation. Then my blemishes are totally hidden and you can’t even tell that I have active breakouts.
final thoughts
I think that the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Breakout Concealer is a fabulous first step in your makeup routine. If you are heavy on breakouts it will treat and partially conceal blemishes giving a good base for the rest of your products. I love that I can wear it during the day vs only in the evening. As for blemishes disappearing I’ve noticed mine have gotten smaller and I look forward to seeing how this will affect them long-term.
If I have to choose between one that I can only wear at night vs one that I can wear day OR night and both are effective then of course I’m going to opt for the one I can wear all day.

I loved it as a treatment! Alone it wasn’t enough coverage for me, but it did provide some. Once my foundation and powder were on you couldn’t see a thing!

Nice! I’m interested in this and the new powder. I’m oily and need full coverage. I just wish they’d develop a matte full coverage foundation. The CC cream is too oily for me.

I hope they come out with one too. So far nothing has topped Estee Lauder Double Wear for me. I pair it with the IT Cosmetics Celebration Foundation for the ultimate coverage!

Hopefully most of it! If they start small their best-sellers will likely come first, but I would imagine since they’ve been bought by L’Oreal that they’ll arrive with a bang!
