Affordable Summer Lip Trends // Metallic Lipstick

Summer isn’t exactly winding down and the hot weather makeup trends are still going strong! The one that comes to my mind when I think of Summer Lip Trends is Metallic Lips. We’re seeing so many releases from almost every single brand out there – MAC, Urban Decay, Lancome – you name it. But what about affordable? You like the trend… you want the trend… but it’s a trend so maybe you’re not willing to invest the big bucks. There’s a drugstore option for that.

Two brands with gorgeous shades and high-quality products have stood out to me this Summer with their metallic offerings – Maybelline and L’Oreal. I wanted to single these brands out not just because they were sent to me, but because I feel like two of the lines they’ve released are high-quality and, in the case of Maybelline, a good dupe for a pricier brand.

Maybelline Color Sensational Matte Metallics Lipstick ($7.49 // ULTA Beauty). 10 shades are currently available in 950 White Gold, 954 Pure Gold, 958 Copper Spark, 962 Hot Lava, 966 Copper Rose, 970 Molten Bronze, 974 Silk Stone, 978 Smoked Silver, 982 Gunmetal and 986 Serpentine.

I love this because some of the shades are wearable while others are much more funky. They’re perfect for wearing alone, layering or creating multi-dimensional lip looks. Also… the minute I saw them they reminded me of the MAC Metallic Lipsticks… but WAY less expensive.

L’Oreal Infallible Lip Paints Metallic Liquid Lipstick ($9.99 // ULTA Beauty). 6 shades are available in Studded, Moon Lust, Galactic Foil, Smoldering Eclipse, Liquid Venom and Chrome Cherries.

I had to throw these in because they are SO saturated, SO metallic and SO SHINY. Truly the image of hot liquid metal but, you know, safer and lip friendly.

There are also plenty more drugstore options for metallic lips, Maybelline and L’Oreal just happen to be the two brands that I’ve personally tried out. If you want to keep looking but still want to remain affordable check out the NYX Liquid Suede Metallic Cream Lipstick, NYX Cosmic Metals Lip Cream, L.A.
