If you haven’t heard of YouTuber Casey Holmes then you’re living under a pretty sad rock. She’s the ONE person on YouTube that if she says to buy it I’m doing it. Every.damn.thing. Recently she collaborated with Smashbox to release two new highlighter palettes – the Smashbox Spotlight Palettes ($35.00 // Sephora) in Pearl (soft highlight) and Gold (gold highlight). I bought Pearl because of my lighter skin tone (and that one is for fair-to-light skintones) but someone hold me back… because I’m dying to get my hands on Gold also!
the details
The Smashbox Pearl Spotlight Palette contains three shades of highlight which you can use separately or blend together for the ultimate, customizable glow. Each shade has it’s own finish, from subtle glow to super sparkle, so you can build it up and glow to the heavens.
Also included is a how-to card so you can easily achieve three looks by Casey Holmes.
review
Each of the three shades is soft, buildable, pigmented, blendable… have I used all of your favorite words yet? Casey mentioned on her video about the palettes that these were designed to not accentuate texture, which really had me intrigued. I have some texture and my pores are out there for the world to see, so I’m very picky about highlighting since most do accentuate those things. The Pearl Spotlight Palette didn’t hide, but it didn’t accentuate. It was a lovely, soft finish that I was really impressed with. This palette will absolutely be a go-to for me on days that I highlight.
So now the only questions is…. Will you go Pearl or will you go Gold?
The Smashbox x Casey Holmes Spotlight Palettes are limited edition and currently available at Sephora, ULTA Beauty, Nordstrom and smashbox.com.
