Introduction to MILK MAKEUP

April 7, 2017

When I see something new come out and it seems as though people that have a similar skin type to me are enjoying it I get this urge that I MUST have it. Back when the MILK MAKEUP Blur Stick ($36.00 // Sephora) came out it was that thing that I absolutely needed. Because even when you have a holy grail primer, you always think that maybe this one could be better.

In addition to grabbing the latest and greatest most-talked-about primer of the last month I also picked up the MILK MAKEUP Limited Edition Triple Threat Eye Set ($30.00 // Sephora) because I was interested in the Eye Pigments, so why not buy a little set and try out a few more things also?

MILK MAKEUP brand intro and product review

First off, the product that started it all, the MILK MAKEUP Blur Stick. Said to be a “colorless, oil- and silicone-free primer to blur the look of imperfections on all skin tones, minimize the appearance of pores and fine lines for an invisible, smooth, matte finish. Use it as a primer to lock in your makeup without clogging pores”. I’m oily, I like a matte finish, I want to smooth fine lines… all of these things listed are my primer perfection.

MILK MAKEUP Blur Stick

I tried the MILK MAKEUP Blur Stick with several of my current foundations including Estee Lauder Double Wear, Wet n Wild Photo Focus and L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte 24hr Foundation. With all three I had the same results – the MILK Makeup Blur Stick applied easily and was invisible. Upon application it hid my pores, smoothed lines, mattified my skin and allowed my foundations to apply well. Throughout the day I did have the shine break through on my t-zone, probably within 2 hours or so.

With that said it didn’t hold the shine down as long as my current HG primer (Make Up For Ever Step 1 Mattifying Primer) but it did do a good job and after some blotting my makeup looked perfect again. I also LOVE the way it applies on in the stick form. It’s so much quicker and easier. My MUFE primer doesn’t always play well with all foundations, so this is a good one to keep on hand for those instances or when I’m just feeling like moving a little quicker with my makeup application.

MILK MAKEUP Triple Threat Eye Set

Even though the MILK MAKEUP Limited Edition Triple Threat Eye Set is no longer available on the Sephora website (but it is still on the MILK MAKEUP website) all of the products within the kit are still available individually or currently within the Desk to Dawn Set which is a larger and more expensive set.

MILK MAKEUP Silent Disco Eye Pigment and Gel Brow from the Triple Threat set

The MILK MAKEUP Eye Pigment ($24.00 // Sephora) is touted as being a “vivid, highly-pigmented cream eyeshadow with a soft, silky texture, drying on quickly without creasing”. The shade that I tried is called Silent Disco which is described as a brown. It’s more of a shimmery deep plum and it’s completely stunning. It looks gorgeous on the lid and applies evenly with a lot of pigment. I experienced no creasing while wearing this shade without a secondary primer. I definitely need many more of the MILK MAKEUP Eye Pigments!

The MILK MAKEUP Gel Brow ($18.00 // Sephora) is touted as being a “waterproof gel brow pencil that glides on smoothly with a matte finish and 10 hours of wear”. My brows are incredibly sparse and need to be drawn in quite a bit to get a good shape. That being said this type of brow pencil just isn’t for me. I think if you already have a nice brow shape and just need to fill in between the hairs you’ll enjoy it. The shade shown is in Pilsner which is a medium brown.

The MILK MAKEUP Ubame Mascara ($24.00 // Sephora) is touted as being a “full-volume mascara that won’t flake and will stay put all day”. This mascara did absolutely nothing for my lashes. No volume, no lift… It did make my lashes stick together which sometimes I don’t mind because it’s done in a va-va-voom sort of a way, but with this it just looked awful. It may have to do with the type of brush.

Have you tried any MILK MAKEUP products yet? What should I pick up next?

MILK MAKEUP can be purchased at Sephora and on milkmakeup.com.

The primer stick sounds pretty neat, but that wide shape looks tricky to use. I would love to try it if they had a smaller version so you can get in those trickier bits like the nose area.

Agreed! I actually got a PR box from them with all of the skincare in it yesterday so I’ll definitely let you know how it is!
