At least once a week I talk on my blog or social media about time saving beauty products. As a mom of two very active kids I have very little time for primping. Usually I can do makeup or hair (both only happen if there’s an event and it’s a stress-filled struggle)… if I’m lucky light makeup and also easy hair (but that’s a rarity). With that in mind I’m always looking to shave a few minutes off of my beauty routine.
Bring on the Dyson Supersonic™ Hair Dryer. I’ve heard a lot about how amazing this hair dryer is. Fast dry time, easy styling and frizz-free? It sounded like the unicorn of the beauty world. The thing is… I heard it from more than just beauty bloggers, YouTubers, random reviews on websites…. even professional hair stylists and salon owners would tell me about it. When the opportunity arose for me to try out this “unicorn” I jumped on it.
The Dyson Supersonic™ Hair Dryer is a high-velocity hair dryer with rapid air flow and a temperature gauge that will monitor the heat level 20 times per second to ensure that the hair is getting dried but not overheating the strands and causing damage. Which, in the long-run, everyone can appreciate. This will also bring out a more natural shine to your hair.
Since the motor is in the handle the dryer is better balanced and it also makes it easier to hold the device for the period of time that it takes to dry your hair. I personally noticed that my arm didn’t feel tired during or after hair drying (it usually is after). There are three speed settings for fast drying, regular drying and styling.
Included in the box with the hair dryer are a diffuser – iron, a non-slip mat, owner’s manual, smoothing nozzle, storage hanger and styling concentrator. The attachments are magnetic and snap on and off easily.
The smoothing nozzle is my personal favorite because it allows you to style your hair and dry it at the same time. Time saver!
The styling concentrator is what I use to dry the front strands of my hair where my cowlicks tend to run wild. I dry this area first because if I give those cowlicks time to dry on their own there’s no stopping them and there’s no going back.
My hair isn’t long and it’s not thick. I’d say my strands are just past shoulder-length and fine, but with ample amounts of frizz. It’s basically like total sadness. With a regular hair dryer it takes me around 7-8 minutes to just dry my hair. That’s when I’m going to be styling after which means I’m sectioning it off and also using a brush.
With the Dyson Supersonic™ Hair Dryer my hair was completely dry in 4-5 minutes. Even better it looked less frizzy and volume didn’t suffer. Usually I need to get at my hair with a straightening device of some kind to calm my strands down a bit, even before I curl, but with the Dyson it wasn’t necessary. I either got right to the curling or went about my day. Which saves even more time.
Do you need a $400 hair dryer? If you’re looking to shave a few minutes (if you have longer, thicker hair than me then you’ll save even more time) off of your beauty routine, make your routine more efficient and improve the general, over-all health and look of your hair – then yes, you need this $400 hair dryer.
Purchase the Dyson Supersonic™ Hair Dryer now at Best Buy (retail $399.99). The color option shown in this post is in Fuchsia/Iron but you can also pick it up in White/Silver.
