As much as I’m completely ready to dive into some Spring Makeup Color Collections (which, to me, means pastel shades, light shades and that God-awful Pantone Green shade) it’s making my Fall-loving heart happy to see the NARS Wildfire Collection launching this month. Why? Because the shades are much more Autumn-focused… aka my fave shades.
Sure, there are some definite flashes of Spring with a couple bold blue hues, but, for the most part, these shades scream Fall with the warm golden, bronzy, “wildfire red” tones. In the press release they call it “Spring. Unearthed” which makes total sense because if you’re unearthing you’re definitely going to get some darker shades, right?!
For the first time I have the full collection to share with you and I hope you’ll enjoy checking everything out!
Thessalonique Duo Eyeshadow ($35.00 // NARS Cosmetics). Thessalonique is described as an iridescent seashell pink and iridescent violet smoke. I love that the darker shade is the more subtle of the two while the seashell pink side is more of the standout when worn. This is a fantastic night out duo – you could wear the violet side all over the lid during the day then add the flash of the pink side plus deepen things with more violet for evening. So pretty! As far as wear time/performance I found it to be wonderful to wear and easy to use/blend.
Chiang Mai Duo Eyeshadow ($35.00 // NARS Cosmetics). Chiang Mai is described as a shimmering sea blue and copper. That copper side has my heart like you wouldn’t even believe. It’s got that reddened tone to it that I just love for my brown eyes and it looks fabulous overtop of a colored base or used alone. I was surprised that the blue side wasn’t as pigmented but the subtleness of the shade actually worked well with the copper side. You can easily deepen it by layering it over-top of the Grande-Large Velvet Shadow Stick. Like with the other duo this one was easy to apply, wear and blend out. If I had to pick just one to buy, it’d be this one… mostly because of the copper side! This duo is limited edition.
Velvet Shadow Stick ($28.00 // NARS Cosmetics). Four shades are available in Grande-Large (metallic sky blue), Siros (bronze), Usbek (vivid purple) and Belle-ile (shimmering mandarin orange). The Velvet Shadow Sticks are faves of mine because they’re nicely pigmented, easy to apply and quick to blend. Once they set they’re in place for the day and you don’t have to worry about creasing. Grande-Large and Usbek are limited edition shades.
Bumpy Ride Blush ($30.00 // NARS Cosmetics). Bumpy Ride is described as a shimmering candy pink. I feel like the word shimmering is going to throw people off. I personally don’t find this blush to shimmer (which is not a bad thing!) but it does offer a nice and subtle glow. The color is buildable without magnifying my pores and it’s that shade that makes you look super awake. Wear time was all day over-top of my foundation and powder.
Lipstick ($28.00 // NARS Cosmetics). Two shades are available in Kiss Me Stupid (burnt sienna) and Breaking Free (neon coral). It’s like Fall meets Summer with these lippies! They layer with each other and the glosses in this collection beautifully. Wear time was the same as a normal lipstick which is about 3 hours or so if I’m not eating or drinking. Both shades are limited edition.
Lip Gloss ($26.00 // NARS Cosmetics). Two shades are available in Asphalt Jungle (shimmering sangria) and Aragon (red chestnut). As with the lipsticks these glosses layer over-top of the colors in this collection beautifully, and even look good when worn together. I didn’t find them to be overly sticky and wear time was around 2 hours minus the eating and drinking that so ruins most lip looks. Asphalt Jungle is limited edition.
The swatches below are done dry and on bare skin (no primers):
Below is a look that I posted to my Instagram using a few of the NARS products. Everything from this collection that I used is listed in the description.
What are your favorite parts of this collection? I’m loving the Duo Eyeshadows, Velvet Shadow Sticks and, surprisingly, Bumpy Ride Blush!
