*I’m sharing #SwissHerbs in my life as part of a #Ricola sponsored series for Socialstars™.
It was inevitable. I was completely sick over Christmas and New Years. In fact, I’m STILL sick. It went from the flu (aka the most unimaginable body aches of ever, high fever, sinus pressure…) into a bronchitis diagnosis with a few precious days of “hey I’m feeling slightly better” in between.
Let me tell you it was boring around here without the rest of the family. Every year I hope for some relief in all the travel, hustle and bustle… but as I was sitting on the couch just me and my daughter (she was sick with the flu also over Christmas) I missed it. A lot.
Several things saved me from certain death (besides professionals & sleep):
Gilmore Girls. Is that so predictable? Since the news of the revival broke I’ve been slowly watching episodes. My intent was the be caught up by the launch of the revival but that ended up not happening. After my sickness I’m now at Season 5 and already stressing about what I’ll do once I finish up the entire series.
Soft Things. Random AF but my body hurt so badly that I needed things to be soft. Soft robe, soft socks (my faves are the ones from Bath and Body Works that are infused with Shea Butter) and a soft sleep mask. I may or may not have stolen my daughters unicorn one… hey, it was soft.
Mind Benders. NOT on your phone. Electronics were just making the headaches caused by sinus pressure worse so I chose to dig up a few of my old Crossword Puzzle and Sudoku books. Because I’m 92.
Manicures. But not with polish, because every one knows as soon as you put on the polish you have to blow your nose or do something to ruin it. Being sick is a good time to pamper yourself with the pre-polish stuff like a good soak, cuticle care etc. I also like to cut my nails super short when I’m sick because I feel like germs live under long nails forever.
Keep Hydrated. I refuse to put moist in bold and italic, but I meant that. I really think the reason my throat didn’t hurt so much from the dry cough I had during the flu was because I made sure I had Ricola Dual Action Cough Drops nearby. I particularly liked the Honey Lemon flavor during this time and then once I felt better from the flu I reached more for the Swiss Cherry flavor since it’s my fave. These drops are a multi-symptom cough drop so they’ll provide relief for coughs and sore throats, all in one.
In addition to that I drank A LOT of tea (I’m obsessed with Bedtime Tea and my coffee craving always switches to tea when I’m under the weather) & water (tip: in a tumbler with a straw because you drink more!). My daughter was being stingy about sharing her Popsicles with me but I managed to get one or two of those, too. 😉
What do you do when you’re all alone and sick AF? I swear I’m not a dramatic person but all I wanted during the flu was someone to baby the heck out of me. PS I love that I did a post about how NOT to get sick for the holidays and it totally karma’d me.
