We’ve seen the OPI Infinite Shine Nail Polishes ($12.50 // ULTA Beauty) around for awhile now. For those that don’t know Infinite Shine is a 3-step system that features a base coat, color and top coat that is engineered to deliver pristine results with an easy, soak-free removal. I like the original formula enough, but the application process is somewhat lengthy for me (I talk more about that here). To the point where, even though the shine is fantastic, I like wearing the shades in the regular line more, and they last just as long.
This January OPI is launching a NEW Infinite Shine Primer and Gloss which will feature the exclusive ProStay Technology – touted as giving up to 11 days of flawless color and gel-like shine.
I decided to give it a whirl and see how it held up vs. the original formula. Below is day 1 of me wearing a mani using the shades Sweet Heart and Got the Blues for Red (accent nail):
After 4 days the mani was still holding strong and I just had some tip wear on my right hand, which is the hand that I use the most. Below is a shot of the same mani after 8 days of wear:
Application wise with this new formula it didn’t take me quite as long to do my nails as before, but it did take longer than with other normal and long-wearing polishes. The darker shades seem to apply and settle much better than the lighter shades, which is consistent with the regular 3-step system results. Dry time was rather quick, which made me happy. Overall I feel that the new ProStay Technology has definitely improved things for the Infinite Shine range, but I don’t yet feel that it’s perfect.
In addition to the new OPI Infinite Shine ProStay Primer & Gloss there will also be 30 new additional iconic shades – bringing the total to 60 classic hues. Six of which are swatched below in Sweet Heart, Cosmo-Not Tonight Honey!, Do You Lilac It?, That’s Hula-rious!, OPI Red and Got the Blues for Red.
What are your thoughts on the OPI Infinite Shine line? Will you check out the ProStay Technology formula?

I have tried most of them and they are quite decent. But there are thousand brands that offer the same promise for more affordable prices.
