I’m all about a nice, pigmented lipstick in the Fall. I love my beigey-pink shades but when it starts to get cool the reds and burgundy colors have my heart and I bring them out to play more often than not. This year one of my favorite brands for lipsticks, MAC Cosmetics, upped their game to create MAC Liptensity ($21.00 // Nordstrom) which promises intense pigment, extreme colour intensity in a luxurious gelled base. The base is said to give the full saturated color and satin finish in one swipe. So, I put that to the test.
Of course, when I first heard of this launch I wanted them all but for now I have two of my top Fall shades to share with you in Fireworks and Mulling Spices.
vivid, bright red (limited edition)
Fireworks is more of a bright, Summer red whereas Mulling Spices is my dream brick red Fall shade. Both were so creamy when applied and yes, completely opaque in one stroke. The formula is crazy because it does feel like a lip balm but owns the pigment like it’s a liquid lipstick yet was comfortable to wear. I love the round shape of the lipstick, though some may find it large for their lips. I apply it flat to the lips then use the edge to line around and even things out. They were both comfortable to wear and lasted 6-8 hours on me (depending on how much I ate or drank during that time).
Based on my experience with these two shades my initial reaction stands – I need them all. My next purchases will likely be Doe and Medium Rare. What about you?
