Every once in awhile I see a picture or a video online and I get inspired to try a new hair style. Sometimes I get inspired to try new things by way of my usual hair style, but in a different way. Recently I got my hair cut and colored by a new stylist and she worked with me on learning to give my hair that tousled wave that we all so desire that seems to be so easily achieved by using a flat iron. I don’t know about you… but I’ve NEVER been able to curl my hair with a flat iron.
My new stylist taught me to grab small sections of hair. It seems my biggest mistake was grabbing the same amount of hair that I’d use for a curling iron and thinking it’d give the same curl with the flat iron. In wrapping smaller sections the hair didn’t need to stay wrapped up for very long and what came out was the perfect, loose, wavy bounce that all my favorite celebs are wearing. After each section of hair is completed she sprayed it lightly with hairspray (because I have major issue with any type of curl staying in my hair).
I tried her technique at home and, though it didn’t look as perfect, I’d say it came out pretty good! I used Suave Sea Mineral Infusion Moisturizing Body Shampoo & Conditioner to cleanse and then Suave Luxe Style Infusion Plump Hold for the hairspray. One thing I did differently beforehand was use Suave Luxe Style Infusion Volumizing Soufflé Hair Mousse to give my hair even more hold and volume – which helped immensely. The best part about this style is that you can rock next day hair by putting one drop of Suave Moroccan Infusion Styling Oil in your palm and rubbing your hands together to finger comb through your hair. I start at the ends because the crown of my head tends to be oily anyway plus you don’t want to weigh it down too much.
