One of the few celebrities I’d ever lose my marbles over meeting is Taraji P. Henson – and not because I’m a fan of her show, Empire. She’s one of those people that just appears so powerful, smart, beautiful and so completely confident in herself that I want to be just like her. Like she’s fun, but no BS. Beyond all of that her range as an actress is incredible – she’s one with depth that actually makes you feel like you’re right there in the room with her. I think that one of her latest ventures with MAC Cosmetics is so well-deserved and although the MAC x Taraji P. Henson collection (only at Macy’s) is small, I really hope it can inspire a larger collection in the future… perhaps Empire themed. 😉

Only three new makeup pieces are launched in this collection but all three are stunners. In addition to the items featured below MAC is also promoting Haute & Naughty Too Black Lash Mascara, Penultimate Eye Liner in Rapidblack and the 187 Duo Fibre Face Brush with the collection.
Strip Me Down Lipstick($17.00 // Macy’s). Strip Me Down is described as a deep tone beige, matte. Though the formula is matte this shade applied smoothly and was comfortable to wear, lasting 4+ hours. On me it looks like a warm terracotta color but with the slight tan I have going on it works. I’ve also been applying some in the center and then blending out with my finger over the rest of my lips. This makes the shade less pigmented but more wearable for me during the day.

Taraji Glow Mineralize Skinfinish Natural($33.00 // Macy’s). Taraji Glow is described as a reddish brown. While the MSF Natural can be used to set foundation or just as a powder touch-up this particular shade is gorgeous as a blush and IMO can be worn by all skin tones. Regardless of your NC/NW level you’ll need to use a light hand or a stippling brush to apply because there is a ton of pigment. I found this shade to blend easily and wear for my entire day (which in this case was 8 hours).

Highlight the Truth Mineralize Skinfinish($33.00 // Macy’s). Highlight the Truth is described as a soft bronze coral with golden shimmer. I really didn’t know if this would be a highlighter or a blush for me but it ended up being a highlight shade and, you guys, it’s probably my favorite. Maybe I’m jumping the gun here, but I think I love it more than Champagne Pop. It’s got the metallic glow but it’s understated… it’s definitely there, you can’t tell I’m highlighted, but it just looks better. Lighter skin tones than mine could likely use it as a blush but for everyone else, this will be your new baby love highlight. Wear time was my entire day out (which in this case was 8 hours).

Swatches: At last check my coloring in MAC was NW20-25 but I’m neutral so depending on the formula I vary to NC territory. I tanned a bit this Summer so it’s likely right now I’m in the 30 zone.
