When I was in high school I remember walking into the local grocery store and buying Max Factor lipstick. I’m not sure if Max Factor was the very first lipstick brand I ever owned, but it was for sure the very first lipstick brand that I ever purchased for myself. The color selection was large but in the 90’d we all wanted a deep lip – and I opted for a burgundy, brown-toned number every time.
Now Max Factor is back with a small, limited edition capsule collection – Masterpiece MAX Mascara ($9.99 – $13.99 SRP) in Velvet Black and Water Resistant Velvet Black, Masterpiece High Precision Liquid Eyeliner ($9.99 – $13.99 SRP) in Velvet Black and Max Factor Lipstick ($9.99 – $13.99 SRP) in Simply Nude and Maroon Dust. I found the mascara and liner available at Target, I’ve also heard of many sightings at Walgreens.
Masterpiece MAX Mascara. This mascara gave me such length and lift in one coat that I can’t even. If you follow me on Snapchat you saw the pic with one coat and two coats as well as heard me whine about how it’s not a permanent item in the US. If you see this, buy it. Buy five. (Since most of you probably don’t follow me on Snapchat, btw why the heck not?!, I posted the pic below):
Masterpiece High Precision Liquid Eyeliner. This liner is very black (not matte) and applied easily with the flattened, rounded paddle applicator. It doesn’t dry quickly so you’ll want to be sure to leave your eye shut for about 15-20 seconds or you’ll end up with some transfer (particularly if you’re like me and have hooded eyes). Once the liner set it lasted all day long.
Max Factor Lipstick. I really thought Simply Nude would be my immediate love but Maroon Dust has quite the peachy tone to it and it looks amazing on. Both shades are super pigmented, creamy and comfortable to wear. They last about 3 hours for me if I’m not eating anything or drinking a lot.
Swatches left to right: Simply Nude Lipstick, Maroon Dust Lipstick and the Masterpiece High Precision Liquid Eyeliner in Velvet Black.
Using this small collection of “glamour essentials” you can achieve the perfect iconic glamour look – including the Pat McGrath Cat Eye. Start by sketching out the shape of the cat eye by dotting your liquid eyeliner from the inner tear duct out towards the outer lashes. Next lift the liner just before the end of your eye to create the wing. Draw it out towards the end of your eyebrow to get the shape that works for you. The wing should gradually taper. Add mascara and done!
Max Factor is widely available throughout the rest of the world but these four products are available in the US now at mass-market, drugstore, food and e-commerce retailers nationwide beginning August 1, 2016. They are limited edition so once they’re gone you won’t be able to grab them anymore, but I’m hoping Max Factor will come back to the US permanently – I basically may not be able to survive without that mascara.

I can’t seem to get the hang of the eyeliner but I love the lipsticks and mascara. I have worn one of the lipsticks every day since they arrived. I love that the mascara never flakes. I hope they come back to the US permanently.

I want that mascara and definitely the eyeliner because I love those paddle shaped applicators! I’m probably going to get all stressed out trying to find it in Orlando though, our stores sell things so quick and restock so slowly. Love the cat eye tutorial by Pat McGrath, she is everything!

That mascara is a wow, and I love both lipsticks. So glad that Max Factor, makeup artist to the stars, is making a comeback. I remember my mom used to wear Max Factor pancake makeup way back in the day.
