Experiencing hair loss, particularly as a woman, can not only be embarrassing but can also cause you to struggle with styling. We’re not all professional hair stylists and, frankly, when I was going through my own personal struggle with hair thinning I felt like I needed to be more of a magician than anything.
If you’re struggling with hereditary hair loss or thinning hair you can easily incorporate new product treatments and styles into your beauty routine – whether it be morning or night. It won’t take a lot of time and the result is the confidence boost you’re craving when you’re probably not feeling so great about your appearance.

Women’s ROGAINE® Foam is the first step into halting thinning hair or hair loss. In fact, using it at the first sign of thinning is recommended. I prefer to do my treatment at night because I remember to use it with my other anti-aging products. I love that the foam is compatible with color treated hair (which is incredibly important to me) and other styling products.

Don’t think that you’re alone in having thinning hair. Up to 42% of women will notice some hair loss in her lifetime making the condition common. Some people are just better at treating it and hiding it than others! 76% of those women will see the beginning of thinning around age 30. Women’s ROGAINE® Foam has done numerous clinical trials spanning over 25 years with the the ROGAINE® brand being the #1 dermatologist and #1 stylist-recommended brand for hair regrowth.

Celebrity Stylist Jill Crosby has taken some time to do a Q&A with me to share some tips and products on styling & caring for thinning hair:
1. While your hair is thinning or while you’re waiting for your hair to grow back, what are the best hair styles for women without bangs? With bangs?
Since everyone’s hair is vastly different (even though different hair types may all share the experience of thinning hair ), the best way to find the right style while growing it out is to work with a stylist who has a good sense for thinning hair. The texture of your hair, shape of your face and personal preferences all shape the look that will be best for you.
2. What are some of the best styling products out there for making your hair appear thicker at the top.
I love root lifters and dry shampoo for adding immediate volume.
3. What are the top things people with thinning hair should NOT be doing. This is including style wise but also in life… for example should we be touching our heads a lot, wearing hats or headbands… etc
The top tip I have for thinning hair people is to TAKE CARE of the hair you have! Meaning, don’t use excessive heat on fragile hair, don’t wear tight styles that create a lot of tension, don’t over process hair with harsh chemical treatments. Do wear hats to protect from sun and do condition hair. You should also have fun with the way you style your hair and enjoy your beauty but do it with more care addressing the needs of delicate hair.
4. How is thinning hair or hair loss different for women as opposed to men?
Thinning hair is such an emotionally charged issue for women. I know men don’t enjoy hair loss, but there isn’t the same stigma as there is for women. Women’s ROGAINE® wants to tell women that this is not an issue that women should feel ashamed of. Women with thinning hair have the right to their beauty and opening up about the options for treatment will help women regain a sense of control of their well-being and beauty. In terms of appearance, men lose hair around the crown of their head and for women it appears as a diffuse thinning over the top of the head and along the part.

If left untreated hair thinning can worsen over time – women can lose one-sixth of their hair density in a period of 10 years. Take control of the situation by changing up your beauty regime and adding in Women’s ROGAINE® Foam as soon as the very first signs of thinning occur. Women’s ROGAINE® 5% Minoxidil Topical Aerosol is the first and only FDA-approved once daily treatment – morning or night (I prefer to do mine at night).
