The right skincare is a significant part of achieving and maintaining an acne free lifestyle. Recently I was able to finally regain control of my breakouts and I’ve been a little stressed out about finding the right skincare regime to maintain everything. It seems like as soon as I find something that works for me my body chemistry decides to change and the blemishes go wild. I don’t want to ever go back to that.
In addition to finding the right skincare regime for me I also wanted to be sure it was wallet friendly and easy to purchase as soon as I needed a refill. A few weeks ago I was introduced to ZAPZYT®, which is touted as being the “safe, effective and economical skincare solution” and seemingly checked all the boxes.
The Acne Wash Cleanser contains 2% Salicylic Acid, is hypoallergenic and free of fragrances and dyes. It’s to be used twice a day to degrease skin and unclog pores. This cleanser encourages the exfoliation of dead skin cells, helping to reduce clogged pores and breakouts. There is also aloe and chamomile in the cleanser to sooth your skin and reduce redness. When I used the cleanser I put a small amount on my Clarisonic and massaged it into my face, making sure to rinse with warm (not hot) water. My skin didn’t feel dry after and I had no new breakouts or reactions in the weeks I’ve been using this. You can also use the cleanser on any back and chest acne.
The Pore Clearing Scrub is a 2% Salicylic Acid Acne Treatment and I think this has been the major turnaround for my skin in lightening my discoloration. The scrub contains small microbeads that work to exfoliate the skin of any oils, dirt and blackheads – basically any and all of the junk that clogs the pores. For the first week I just used this scrub once (my skin can be sensitive to scrubs) and then the second week I used it twice. I didn’t have any reactions to it and my skin felt fabulous and even slightly cool afterwards.
The Acne Treatment Gel is said to provide “dermatologist recommended maximum strength without irritation” and “visible results as soon as 5 hours”. This gel reduces breakouts by removing dead skin cells from pores and then kills acne-causing bacteria by introducing oxygen. is water based so there won’t be any dryness caused by alcohol. I haven’t had new acne breakouts in awhile but as a precautionary measure I’ve been placing this on discoloration and areas that I would normally be prone to break out.
The Pore Treatment Gel also contains 2% Salicylic Acid and is oil and water soluble. It is said to “cut through greasy skin and penetrate pores putting the treatment in the heart of the pimple”. Linoleic acid helps to reduce formation of inflamed, swollen pimples and aloe and other botanicals help reduce redness and soothe acne prone skin. I’ve been using this on areas where I’m the most prone to getting blackheads like my nose and chin. I don’t tend to breakout on my nose but I feel that my blackheads are noticeable. Since I’ve been using this gel in those areas I’ve felt that there’s been a reduction in the appearance of the black heads and I don’t have to worry about covering them up as much with my makeup.
I’ve been diligently testing out all four products since they arrived and I’m happy to report that I’ve had no new breakouts and the discolored areas from old acne appear to be getting lighter.

Fortunately the days of full face breakouts are gone, but I still get a couple every month. Spot treatments are my bff during that time.

These products sound like a great option for the treatment of acne. I need to look into whether or not they are safe during pregnancy.

I wasn’t aware you could even find a water based acne fighting skin care product. I usually avoid anything that fights acne because of the alcohol.

Thankfully I seem to have my skin issues under control. But this would have totally come in handy a few years ago when I was battling some crazy acne issues! I’m so glad it’s working for you! Acne at any age sucks!

Looove that these can be found at a drugstore! My skin has been great since I’ve been pregnant, but since I’m due next month – I need to get back to taking care of it more!
