You’ve spent the better part of Winter wishing for Summer weather and now that it’s here wtf are you supposed to do about your makeup?! It’s melting. Never fear, Makeup Wars is here! This week the bloggers have gotten together to share their favorite Long-Lasting Makeup Products with you. In our posts you’re bound to find exactly you need to keep your face on point during these sweaty glowy days.
For this post I have not one, but two picks for you. The first is the Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup, which was the first item that popped into my head when I thought “long-lasting makeup”. The second item I added in last minute because I wore it the other day and was really impressed with how long it lasted and how comfortable it felt… I’m talking about the Sephora Cream Lip Stain.
Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup ($38.00 // Sephora). I may have been the last person on Earth to try out this foundation but just in case I’m not I have to tell you about it and urge you to pick it up. Never have I ever (and I’ve been through a lot of foundation) found a more full-coverage foundation that also felt light to wear that lasted all day long with no touch-ups and barely any shine peeking through. And you guys know how oily I am.
But there is a trick to applying it and wearing it, because if you use the wrong method you won’t have as much success. Step 1: Use a matte primer in your oiliest areas like the MAKE UP FOR EVER Step 1 Skin Equalizer Primer Matte Finish – it works incredibly well with the Double Wear. This one will hide pores and keep oil down. Step 2: Grab a dense, tapered kabuki brush like the Sigma® 3DHD™ Kabuki Brush. The pointed end gets into all of the nooks and curves of your face easily (nose, under the eyes, etc) and the way the brush is made makes application of the ELDW go on flawlessly. I apply the foundation with a sweeping brush motion for an HD finish. Step 3: Use your damp beautyblender to bake all of the oiliest areas with the Laura Mercier Invisible Loose Setting Powder – for me I bake under the eyes, the center of the forehead, nose and at the chin.
Use the above steps and your face lasts all day long, full-coverage.
Because the Estée Lauder Double Wear is housed in a glass bottle (aka definitely not my favorite packaging) the best way to use it is by pouring a small amount on the back of your hand (or a mixing palette like this one, if you have it) and tapping your brush into the product, then sweeping it onto your face. I found that I used less product this way vs. when I was putting it directly to the brush or on my fingers. The beautyblender works okay, but the coverage won’t be there since you’ll sheer it out some.
Sephora Cream Lip Stain ($14.00 // Sephora). I have my issues with the matte-finish, long-wearing lip products. Most of them do not last longer than a regular matte lipstick would on me, regardless of their claims of “never coming off”. When I got the Sephora Cream Lip Stain in 13 Marvelous Mauve in my press bag at The Makeup Show I didn’t hold out much hope. After all, it’s on the affordable side of a long-lasting lip product and 95% of all of the others I’ve tried have bombed. I wore it with this look and it really did last.all.day. Through eating and drinking and the what-nots. There was a bit of color transfer to my glass but you’d never know it by looking at my lips.
I found that this Lip Stain performed much better than other products that have grander claims. It’s very full-coverage as well as light and comfortable to wear. I can’t wait to pick up more!

You MUST! The way you apply it really makes all the difference, too! I watched some YT to figure out which way to try and that Sigma brush was the best for me. If you don’t need as full of coverage or have dry skin the beautyblender seemed to work better for people.
Absolutely loving the look of that foundations and the lip stain!
