With color correcting being all the rage lately the Makeup Wars bloggers feel like it’s high time we share our favorites with you!
My favorite color correctors are all brand new products to me that I’ve been using for the last week or two (so apologies if they’re looking less than new in the pics). My skin tends to be oily but since I’ve partnered with tria to test out the tria Eye Wrinkle Correcting Laser (post coming soon) my under eye area has been really dry and discolored. Because of this I picked up some new products to alternate with, using the more emollient formula for the driest areas and the pressed palette formula for the oilier ones.
First Aid Beauty Eye Duty Triple Remedy ($36.00 // Sephora). While this product isn’t touted as being for color correcting it is said to be the solution you need for dark circles, under eye puffiness, fine lines and wrinkles. I squeeze out a pin head sized amount, press my two pointer fingers together and that’s all that’s needed to cover your undereye area. I start at the inner corners (the darkest part for me) and then tap lightly under the lower lash line. I keep tapping with the same finger to blend it out. On a day where my undereyes are particularly dark I put a bit of the NYX Color Correcting Palette pink shade on top.
Urban Decay Green Naked Skin Color Correcting Fluid ($28.00 // Sephora). Five different shades of Color Correcting Fluids were released and my top picks were this one and then the Peach shade. I didn’t end up buying the peach at the time because they were sold out (this was during the big Beauty Insider sale) – but it worked out because the First Aid Beauty is doing what I expected the peach to.
With the Urban Decay Green Naked Skin Color Correcting Fluid I dot a bit on my cheeks and under my nose where the redness is the most apparent. I use my finger to lightly pat it in and then use a flat topped kabuki brush to blend before applying my foundation.
NYX Color Correcting Concealer ($11.99 // ULTA Beauty). I actually picked up this 6-pan concealing palette before I grabbed the other two items mentioned in this post. It worked well in certain areas, but like I said in the opening, I needed the more fluid formulas for certain parts of my face.
In this palette I tend to only use the green, peach and pink toned colors to hide dark circles, a bit of redness and some leftover darkened marks from acne that I previously had (and that’s thankfully fading). If you’re curious about what colors would work the best for you check out this chart that Ange from Hairspray and High Heels created. I used it as a guideline to figure out what shades would work best for me!
TIP: When using any of these products under your eyes you need to get at it ASAP with a setting powder. I usually do the under-eye area first by “baking” it with the Laura Mercier Invisible Loose Setting Powder ($38.00 // Sephora). This will prevent creasing and hold everything in place for a longer period of time. I use this same powder across my entire face once all of my makeup is in place.

So much UD love this week! I haven’t tried any, and that totally has to change soon.
I hope that NYX becomes available in Estonia soon because I need that NYX Color Correcting Concealer palette in my life.

I have that NYX palette and adore it. I need to pick up another one actually because my green is empty. I didn’t know First Aid Beauty had an eye treatment like that but I must have it!

I’m curious about the color correctors. I have the Tarte Color Correcting Concealer and it does a good job covering my dark circles. I’ve got a purple one that I got in a Memebox but I don’t really have yellow undertones so it just makes my face look a strange color. I could use a green, but truth be told my foundation/CC cream does a good job covering my pink cheeks. But they look so fun I’d like to try them anyway

Yeah I think if you don’t actually need the color where you put it then it ends up looking funky. I get a lot of redness in certain areas but I don’t put the green where it’s just a pink tinge. It’s rough being flawless LMAO
That NYX palette is going on the wish list! 🙂

I came close to picking up the NYX but the tester was so cruddy at Ulta that I was worried it wouldn’t be soft enough to blend. The UD really works well for me. I never knew about that First Aid product though.

The NYX is super soft when you get it. I hate nasty testers =( I imagine the NYX ones get gross pretty fast with everyone wanting to test them out.
Ohh I have that FAB eye cream somewhere and haven’t really been using it. Time to dig it out!
