Skincare. Whether you’re 15 or 85, we all need it. In this post I’m telling you about all of the latest skincare products I’ve been playing with and if they’ll be good in the Spring, Winter or even year round! I do have a lot to talk about, so bear with me. They ALL serve a purpose!
Aveeno. I have a ton of Aveeno products that I love! I’m a blogger ambassador for the brand so I get the opportunity to try out most of their items continuously. A few of my favorites are pictured below: Daily Moisturizing Lotion, Moisturizing Body Wash, Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer and (of course) Positively Radiant Makeup Removing Wipes. Aveeno products are fabulous if your skin is sensitive. It’s one of the few brands that use a light fragrance in some of the products and I can actually use without getting itchy. I use these products year round. Pick it up at your local drugstore!
Murad. This is another brand I’m obsessed with. If I didn’t have their Clarifying Cleanser and Clarifying Wipes in bulk I’d be having an anxiety attack right now. In this post I want to let you in on a few other products from the brand that I’m currently loving (but mostly you’ve seen them around on the blog before):
The Hydro-Dynamic Ultimate Moisture ($72.00 // ULTA Beauty) has been wonderful for nighttime moisturizing. It’s not heavy but it gets the job done… I know this because when I wake up my skin doesn’t feel tight. It’s pricey but you get a lot of product (a little goes a very long way) and in terms of skincare I’ll pay for what works well, particularly if it works just as well (if not better) as a product that costs twice as much.
The Hydrating Toner ($28.00 // ULTA Beauty) is something I like to spritz lightly on my face. Because it’s hydrating I give a little extra to my cheeks, which tend to be more dry in the Winter. I switch out this toner for the Clarifying Toner in the Spring/Summer when I don’t need as much hydration.
If you’re oily the Oil-Control Mattifier ($39.50 // ULTA Beauty) is something to get on your list ASAP. It’s not a primer, but a product you use before your primer to keep the oiliest parts of your face (like the t-zone) shine-free for a bit longer.
The Advanced Active Radiance Serum ($90.00 // ULTA Beauty). I tend to reach for this one more in the Spring and Summer but every once in awhile I do use it in the colder months. This serum contains vitamin C and is fabulous for brightening a dull complexion and it’s lightweight.
The Rapid Collagen Infusion for Lips ($24.00 // ULTA Beauty) is going to give your lips a more youthful appearance and stave off any sort of wrinkling. I am a freak for never having lip wrinkles so I use this constantly. It’s also a fabulous way to prep your lips for a matte lipstick. It smooths them out so the lipstick won’t feel or look as drying.
The latest product I’m trying from Murad is the Eye Lift Firming Treatment ($68.00 // Murad). This treatment comes in the bottle but also includes eye pads to apply the product to your under-eye area. Apply a few pumps to the pad and press under the eye. After 10-15 minutes remove and you’ll see instant improvement. If you continually use this 2-3 a week you’ll see even more improvement even after the first week. For the price the results are impressive!
I use these year round unless noted! You can pick up Murad Skincare at ULTA Beauty.
PIXI Beauty has a treat for your skin – Skintreats! Glowtion Day Dew ($22.00 // Target) is a great brightening lotion for day, Glow Mud Mask ($22.00 // Target) helps to absorb oil and fight breakouts and Glow Mud Cleanser ($18.00 // Target) is gentle but contains 5% glycolic acid, hyaluronic acid, aloe vera, and avocado oil for a smoother complexion. The Hydrating Milky Mist ($15.00 // Target) isn’t part of the Skintreats line but is still a fabulous addition for those of us that love to have hyaluronic acid in all aspects of our skincare. Use this to prep the skin before moisturizing and applying makeup. Pick up Pixi Skincare at Target!
Elizabeth Arden. The SUPERSTART Skin Renewal Booster ($65.00 // Nordstrom) is non-greasy and perfect for day-time if you need to give your skin a boost while the FLAWLESS FUTURE Powered by Ceramide™ Caplet Serum ($60.00 // Nordstrom) works great for evening skin tone and reducing the early signs of wrinkles. This are great for any season!
Yes to Coconut. Yes this is from the same company as Yes to Carrots and Yes to Cucumbers… all the Yes to! Each Yes to line focuses on a specific target issue. Let’s face it, though. Coconut fixes all the things. The items I tried out (below) are the Ultra Hydrating Overnight Eye Balm ($15.99 // ULTA Beauty), the Ultra Hydrating Melting Cleanser ($9.99 // ULTA Beauty) and the Ultra Hydrating Facial Mask ($15.99 // ULTA Beauty). They ALL smell amazing feel incredible on the skin. Of the three, the Eye Balm is my favorite because when dryness happens wrinkles happen. Also my eyes tend to water and get dry at the outer corner and this balm has prevented it from happening this Winter. For me, these items are great for use in the Winter, but if you’re pretty dry year round, you’ll want them year round! I’m looking to pick up the cleaning wipes, hand cream and eczema relief spray to see how that works for my daughter and I. You can find Yes to products at Target and ULTA Beauty.
A Girl’s Gotta Spa!. Fellow Beauty Blogger Shannon from A Girl’s Gotta Spa! has several skincare items for your body! All of the items smell amazing and make your skin feel great – PLUS I’m happy to report the lotion (shown) that I’ve been using doesn’t make me itch. Perfect all year round! Items are priced from $22.00-$32.00 when purchased separately (or you can buy a set for $76.00 and save a few bucks) and if you sign up for her newsletter you can save 15%! Shop here.
LATHER. This is a fabulous, cruelty free brand that offers everything you need for body, hair, face, aromatherapy and more. I particularly love to use the soaps in any season, but I do like to change up the fragrances. Shop LATHER here.
The Body Shop. I remember even back in high school I loved going in to The Body Shop. Recently I’ve fallen in love with their Hemp Hand Protector ($20.00 // The Body Shop). It’s ultra-moisturizing and has been fabulous this Winter for keeping my hands from getting too dry. Right now they’re offering Hemp Hand Protector in limited edition packaging where $2.20 of each sale of the cream will go directly into The Body Shop Foundation, which is “helping to increase awareness around the negative changes happening to our planet and to create positive change”.
Pacifica. I really haven’t met a makeup wipe I haven’t liked and I’d been dying to try out the Pacifica Coco Pure Makeup Removing Wipes ($6.99 // Target). Like with most other makeup removing wipes I own I use these year round as the first step in makeup removal before washing my face at night or when I need to remove arm swatches.
Neutrogena. If you’ve read my blog for awhile you know that one of my favorite hand creams all year long for several years now has been the Neutraogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream ($3.97 // Target). Super affordable, super kick butt and keeping my hands feeling nice. It doesn’t absorb quickly but I like to use it at night with gloves while I watch TV. While there is an un-noticable (to me) scent there is also an unscented version available.
AcnEase. This is a brand/product I’ve reviewed years ago and am now currently doing a four-post series on. The series is sponsored, but this mention is not. They have no idea I’m even putting them in this round-up. This is an herbal supplement to combat the evils of acne from the inside. It worked fabulously for me before and it’s working well for me again one month into the new regime. My first post is here and my second post will be coming soon! I’m not a doctor, so consult yours before trying anything new. Buy AcnEase here.
IT Cosmetics. Finally, skincare products from one of my favorite brands! Confidence in a Cream ($48.00 // ULTA Beauty) is effective, lightweight and moisturizing. It’s fabulous in the winter and I still think it’ll work well for me in the Summer because it doesn’t sit on the skin. My full review can be found here.
Derma E. The Purifying 2-in-1 Charcoal Mask ($19.50 // ULTA Beauty) is an excellent choice if you’re hopping on that charcoal trend. It’s a mask that helps draw out impurities and gently exfoliate. I’ve read that if you have dry skin this might be irritating for you (it is meant for normal-to-oily skin types), so make sure you start out slowly (once a week).
