Is it Spring yet? I admit, this Winter hasn’t been that bad for us in terms of brutal weather. We’ve had some cold days and then one decent snow storm… but all-in-all it wasn’t the worst… in fact if was probably one of the best Winter seasons we’ve had. But have you ever noticed that Winter just drags. It’s just a dull time of year which makes the approach of Spring that much more exciting. It amps me up and really gets me motivated to organize life.
Below are a few things I love to do in the Spring to get all areas of my life in order:
Mental Clarity. My first major purge is mental. During the Winter I’m full of anxiety… loaded with stress. The approach of Spring means it’s time to re-learn to prioritize. I like to make my “to do” list the night before. What is the most important item of the day? Write that down first. Usually, in my planner, I put a special sticker beside it so it’s the very first thing I look at in the morning. Next comes smaller, easy to complete tasks. At the end of the list I usually write down a few things to prep (for work, kids, home) to make my next day easier. In all honesty the very first day you do this you’ll feel over-whelmed, but if you force yourself to do it and keep up with it… the clarity is amazing.
New Habits. Clarity of the mind means kissing bad habits goodbye. For example my major distractions are social media. Things like Facebook and YouTube are two in particular that can really be a time-suck for me. In the morning I’ll allow myself to watch a video or two on YouTube while I eat and get organized. Then I check Facebook and my email. When that’s all done sign out of these applications completely. I’m a lazy girl at heart and if I have to sign in to view something I’m less likely to take the time to do it. Eventually you’ll form new, good habits and these other apps won’t even be a thought.
Play Outside. Maybe not play per-say but you definitely could. I certainly do (I have kids, I swear that’s the reason 😉 )! Get yourself moving by talking a walk, running around… anything…. even have a meal outside. The weather is usually beautiful (even if it rains I’ll sit on the porch for a bit to eat or to do my second email check) and the fresh air will rejuvenate you.
Spring Cleaning. Bye-bye clutter. You’re now organized in the head but what about the home? I try not to make Spring Cleaning daunting. One week I’ll go through my clothes and make a donation pile. The next week, my daughters clothes… the next my son… etc. Randomly I’ll pick a drawer or two to sort through. After a month you blink and OMG it’s done! I’m a list maker so I make a list of what I’d like to do (because I’ll forget) and check it off as I go.
Get Creative. I love taking the kids places and taking candid photographs of them, randoms of animals, flowers… etc. It’s completely inspiring and relaxing, plus your kids burn off some energy so at the end of the day, when they’re exhausted, everyone wins! I also like to pick them up easy little art projects like making stepping stones or painting ready-made bird houses. Hey, Spring Break is coming up… I have these activities piled up in spades.
During all of this, particularly with the cleaning and being outdoors, I keep Ricola® Dual Action Honey Lemon drops on hand at all times. Why? Because my throat gets dry and a dry throat is a major distraction. I keep water around also, but sometimes it just doesn’t cut it and I can’t have the water bottle strapped to my mouth for the entire time. Dual Action Honey Lemon drops contain Chrütercraft, which combines a unique blend of ten natural Swiss alpine herbs, natural menthol and soothing honey lemon syrup which provides a fast, soothing and naturally effective relief to your dry throat.
Please tell me I’m not the only person that gets excited for these organizational things. LMAO! Tell me in the comments how you get ready for Spring!

I love spring cleaning! I’ve been going through things and tossing them, and even went through my makeup collection. I must have tossed 25 lip glosses that haven’t been used in a year!

I dread the word spring cleaning but it’s a must have. Right now my guest bathroom has undergone the cleaning and I don’t want anyone to use it!

We’ve been purging all winter. We had so much stuff that was just hanging around in the basement. It felt great to get rid of it.
